Daniel, My girlfriend and I have been watching your videos for the past few months, and I cannot thank you enough for the information you have provided. Not only is your content entertaining, I have found you are by far the best at explaining concepts by talking your listeners through your thought process. Please know there are many more like myself who feel the same way and value your work, but have just not taken the effort to comment as of yet. Thank you Sensei, Bailey

I’m so grateful that Danya not only played the Caro-Kann, but also happened to get the line where white plays Nf3 but doesn’t go into the two knights variation. This is one of the most common responses that I’ve encountered when playing the Caro, but I haven’t seen it discussed in any resources about the opening theory. Based on this, I’ve always assumed that it can’t be great for white, but I was curious if there were some specific pointers for black, or even a way to punish it. Turns out my suspicions were correct. It’s just a kind of meh line for white, that sometimes transposes to the exchange variation, and where you play normal, principled stuff as black.

Hi Danya, why did the character from the Queen's Gambit call Caro Kann "All pawns and no hope"?
@paulspl25813 жыл бұрын
Because it's a tv show that probably just looked up some random opening name and associated it with a random statement.

I used to play the French but now I tired playing the caro and it’s way more fun but also way more dangerous
@DonFreeq3 жыл бұрын
Tbh Caro is just advanced French that went slightly wrong or French in ultraboring version with less counterplay or some mess with pawn down for slight comp or total mess with you having no space and development but white being stretchen all over the place xd You always get 1 of those 4 if your opponent isn't meme. Honestly I have hard time understanding people who advocate for Caro. I guess less things to learn than in normal French, but that's all. It's playable for sure, however I can't find serious reasons to go for it. May I ask what do you find interesting there?
