Just wanted to set the record straight, I spent a month filming and editing this video and I am open to any kind of suggestions or constructive criticism. This is my first build, so a lot of the stuff I did I did with little knowledge. There are a lot of areas that I could’ve improved but the end result was still a cheap budget build that gave me a lot of performance benefits.

Just my suggestions if anyone has the same budget Then get Ryzen 5 7600 or 7500f No need to overpay on the motherboard you shouldn't need to spend more than $150 Buy 7900 gre or xt if you can And get the cheapest a/b rank power supply you can find
@axstra2557Ай бұрын
Also buy a case with included fans for less than $100 Or case + fans for $100 And use stock cooler but if you have more Budget get the peerless assassin Or a cheap aio

Nice work. Your research was very through. The build ended up looking epic!

Great build

So two things, first is that I wouldn't have gotten a Z series motherboard with an i5. You'd be better off getting a Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX and take the extra $40ish to upgrade to a 12700k. That would get you better performance than a 12600k ever would. PSU is a great choice though, same one I have. You could also look at the 3080 TI, it's usually able to be bought for around $600, $400 if you're near a Micro Center. You could build a system with a 12700K and 3080 TI for under $1400 if you know where to look! While the RAM you got is 6000MHz, it's only CL36, with isn't the tightest of timings. You can get a pair of 6000MHz CL28 RAM for the same price from G.SKILL, and you'd see a noticeable difference in performance. All in all, not a bad build by any means, but there's definitely some things that could've been a little bit better. With that said, all that matters is that you're happy with it!

Thank you, this is my first build and I wanted to create a video of me building it and how much I spent. Compared to my laptop, the performance is amazing. I went with a Z motherboard because from the videos I watched, it gives you the ability to over clock the cpu. I didn’t think the cpu was already over clocked. That’s what confuses me. But another reason I got it was to future proof. So if I upgraded to a i7 or i9 I could keep the mother board.
@austingivens244Ай бұрын
@@preludeboy99 Sure, I completely get why you'd want the Z series, but it's really not necessary. The amount of performance gain out of overclocking is usually less than 5%, and you're better off getting a slightly cheaper motherboard and swapping the CPU for the next tier of CPU. Also, a K series CPU isn't overclocked by default. That's a LOT of trial and error, and not something that I would recommend to someone new to PCs, because you can brick your PC if you don't do it correctly, although that's unlikely.
@austingivens244Ай бұрын
@@preludeboy99 The biggest benefit of a K series CPU isn't that it can OC, but that it's voltage is unlocked and it runs at higher boost clocks, and that's not something that you need a Z series motherboard for, it does that automatically, regardless of motherboard. For example, a 12700 boosts to 4.9 GHz, but it's usually just a single core that can achieve that. A 12700K boosts up to 5.0 GHz, and very often you get all of your physical cores to boost to that. A K series CPU is essentially identical to a non-K CPU, but it's just a cherry picked CPU that's more stable at higher clocks, so they unlock it's voltage control. The K doesn't signify it can be OCed, it means that it's unlocked, which can have big performance impacts even without OCing, depending on program.
@austingivens244Ай бұрын
@@preludeboy99 You don't need a Z series motherboard to upgrade to an i7 or i9, just a motherboard with the LGA1700 socket. Z series just lets you overclock, but it really isn't worth it unless you're chasing high numbers in Cinebench. The instability and trial/error just isn't worth it, the performance gain just from having a K CPU is the biggest reason people buy them, not because they're OCing

Very cool man! I never wanted to even attempt this. I had the shop build one for me xD

You can do it! It’s not that bad at all!!

Great job with this. would love to learn this kind of stuff one day of building my own pc, instead of spending a ton of money on a prebuilt one.

I don't think the air cooler was optimally mounted. From an airflow standpoint, the gap between gpu backplate and intake fan is tiny and the hot air which got heated up by loaded gpu is directly fed to cpu. Why not change to the same orientation as the front panel intake fans, mounting the fans horizontally helps better the air circulation as they can suck the fresh air in. Maybe it's a ram clearance issue or u wanna prioritize gpu temperature?
@preludeboy99Ай бұрын
@@Twosharp Yk I was thinking about that. I felt like perhaps I mounted it weirdly because of the instructions I followed. Ram clearance is not the problem, GPU should have more air to breathe but surprisingly the GPU has been running optimally so far. I will make an update video addressing the changes. Thank you so much for the comment!
@fmanrocks5929Ай бұрын
@@preludeboy99 Actually this mistake of the orientation of the fans of the CPU cooler would negatively affect the CPU, and that is probably why you're getting such high usage during gameplay with high temperatures, as your fans have to take hot air from the back of your GPU to try and cool your CPU which is the wrong orientation. The CPU cooler should face the front of your PC towards the intake fans and get cool air from the front and then exhaust the hot air to the back of case towards the exit fan.
@preludeboy99Ай бұрын
@@fmanrocks5929 the cpu usage only occurs in NFS heat. Every other game is fine. But I will make the change as soon as I get home.

I had a really nice paragraph set up but i accidentally exited out so ill sum what i said >12600k good processor but its already overclocked so you don't have to do anything to it, also it doesn't matter which modern CPU you use both Ryzen and Intel will be good however Ryzen is generally better then intel with gaming. Take the 7600x, has a higher clock speed, uses less power, and is still on an motherboard that has cpus being mad to it while LGA 1700 is a dead socket. >motherboard It does the job, i don't really care for motherboards that much unless theyre like Asus and i can make fun of them. >DDR5 6000mt decent speed, just be sure to enable XMP so you can get the speeds advertised, also Ram space doesn't matter for 4k, Your GPU, Monitor and CPU is what matters >PSU the only real thing you can future proof but it should be nice. Also the ratings just imply how it uses electricity. >6800 good card, after overclocking it the card can be almost the same as a 6800xt which can run 4k. Should also mention Nvidia as they have support for better video encoding, Nvidia SLI is better then Crossfire in terms of video editing but you have to pay the price while most of AMDs software is open source, and Nvidia supports OpenGL a bit better so if you like emulating you can still do it but you might need to get it to work Don't get me wrong i do not like Nvidia but i want to be fair and say their benefits even if they would never benefit me personally. AMD can do everything Nvidias does, sometimes rival but Nvidia has streamlined it to be easier. >m.2 ssd good choice Overall pretty good build and there would be some changes i would make if i were you, like switching to a Ryzen and buying a used Nvidia Card. If i would have to give any advice is to not listen to any tech guru or schzoid out there and never use Userbenchmark. i wish i could've sent my actual paragraph i wanted to send but so be it
@Plaer1Ай бұрын
The Intel would fair better overall, it seems he is using not just for gaming, so I would see why Intel is better

@Plaer1 thats kinda unfair to say when some the best workstation cpus are AMD
