@@JRO_Lights Dear JRO_Lights Great video. Do you know if I can tighten the joint so that my Zippo doesn't just open on its own? Like if I happen to turn it upside down, it'll just open w/o me flipping it open. I don't expect you to know but thought I'd ask. Thank you JRO_Lights.

My tip for those whose lighters seem to evaporate fuel quickly: I don't carry mine in my pocket so I keep it in a small Ziploc plastic bag when I'm not going to use it for a while and especially overnight.

do I have to refill it every week even if I don't use it? is it dangerous to light it if the fluid dries out?
@JRO_Lights
@JRO_Lights Жыл бұрын
If you don’t use it you will still have to fill it up once a week or as needed. The fuel does evaporate No you can “dry fire” a Zippo, it is not dangerous. I carry a zippo everywhere I go, and do not use it on a regular basis. I may put full in it once every 2 weeks or so.

Is it alright if I use a different brand of lighter fluid? What if I replace the wick with twine? Will it still work?
@JRO_Lights

Different Lighter fluid shouldn’t be a problem. I would personally stick with using zippo wicks. I have heard some people use hemp wick beeswax twine, but have not seen how it holds up

@@JRO_Lights sorry for the sudden reply again, but, I have a little problem with the insert. For some context, I was out of town for a few days and left my zippo at home. BUT, I must've forgotten to put the insert back onto the case since when I went back the insert was just lying in the floor, and with closer inspection, the little hinge was broken. I'm not sure what it's called exactly but after I found out that the little hinge on the insert was broken I just didn't use it for the time being since I thought it would be kinda dangerous with the case not staying closed
@JRO_Lights
@JRO_Lights Жыл бұрын
@@crustytomatosoup737 Oh no! If you live in the states you can send your Zippo in and they will provide you with a new insert. It would still be safe to use. The true purpose of the case is to extinguish the flame. It’s inability to maintain fully close wouldn’t affect anything. The only thing the damaged insert effects would be the click or how the case closes. Best solution, send it in to Zippo or put in a different insert. 😁
@crustytomatosoup737
@crustytomatosoup737 Жыл бұрын
@@JRO_Lights unfortunately I don't live in the states anymore since my family moved a long time ago. I would order a new insert but it's quite expensive from where I live. Is there a way that I can attach the hinge on the insert without restricting it's movement? (I forgot to mention this but it will only me temporary until I save up enough for a new insert and get a new one)

For how long should fuel last even if I don't use the Zippo. Mine stops working in 8-9 hrs
@JRO_Lights
@JRO_Lights Жыл бұрын
Depends on how much you use it. Depends on brand of fuel, amount of wick length, and if you “weaved” the wick throughout the lighter. From those who do on the regular May refill every 2-3 days. Without using mine regularly it lasts up to a week or maybe 2 weeks. (That’s pushing it but it has happened)

Thanks for watching. You don’t necessarily need to do all of this for it to “work.” You can take a brand new Zippo and throw fuel in it and it will “work.” However, if you want to maximize its performance and work how it is meant to, yes this is the best way to do it.

Thanks for sharing! First of all, Make sure you’re using good lighter fluid to fill it up. Ronsonol, Zippo ect. (Remember Zippos don’t come pre fueled) Follow the steps in the video. Make sure you’re not overfilling. In extreme cases, it’s worth pulling everything out, letting the cotton and wick dry and reassembling.
