I love ancient Greece. So getting a chance To FINALLY understand how all their money works is life-saving information. Really appreciate it!

I'm new to this, but I just found 2 Greek coins in a basket I bought at a yardsale. They look very different from any coins I've seen before. I'm here to find out exactly what I've got. Thank you for this video. It's very educational.

So I was looking at the description of an ancient Greek coin on an auction website, and where it has both the diameter and weight of the coin listed, it also had " 1h " adjacent to the size and weight measurements. What does the " 1h " refer to?
@ericcasagrande3 жыл бұрын
Never mind, I found someone who knew what it meant. It refers to the orientation of the reverse side of the coin, in relation to the obverse. For example "12h" means both sides have the top of the portrait straight up (in relation to each other). Whereas if it says ^6h" it means the top of the portraits on each side of the coin, are oriented 180 degrees different to each other (i.e. just as it is on most U.S. coins.)

Do you know of some Greek Coins that does not depict a god or deity?
@coindoctor50354 жыл бұрын
Pumpkintown Primitives there are many struck by the Ptolemaic empire that have the PHAROAH on the obverse and an eagle on the reverse. There are also a bunch of Baktrian coins struck by Euthydemos I and Eukratides I and II that have no gods it deities. Even though they don’t depict the gods, there are still representations. 99.9% of Greek coins in some way or another represent the olympians. There is no avoiding it, it was just a way of life back then.

@@coindoctor5035 thank you! I would love to get an original Greek Coin Someday as I have an original Hebrew one. @@pumpkintown Hey, I'm a very hardcore Christian as well. But I own coins of emperor Nero and evil pagan kings anyway. I think it's more about the history than the ideals, but that's my opinion. You do you man, I respect that you want to keep your faith strong.

You really should consider re-recording the VO of your video. And slow down. You read far too quickly, without pauses or emphasis, and without sufficient enunciation. I couldn’t understand most of what you were saying, and I am highly motivated to learn what you have to teach. You clearly know a lot that’s worth knowing and teaching to others. Just a suggestion. I think you’ll find more subscribers and likes if you try recording it again, keeping in mind what I’ve indicated. Thanks for the information, and the imagery!
