This is how I've made weight for the last 3-4 years. I come in right on point every time. The most recent weight cut I was .2lbs over on the unofficial scale. I almost know exactly when to stop the cut. I had to go back and cut for another 3 minutes.

I'm 6'1" and only weight 142 lbs but I do a full body workout and at least light cardio pretty much every day, heavy cardio 2-4 times a week plus I shuffle dance for hours on weekends which gives me insanely good footwork and power ...I feel like I'm already at a cut weight because I look like a fighter fresh from the sauna, standing on the scale...slightly sunken cheeks, and you can see my ribs and spine but I have a siiick 6 pack ;-). Would you advise fighting at my walking weight? If I cut, I could probably get to super-featherweight!

Thank you very much for the video. Do you suggest the same method for tournaments where weigh-in is done twice? Say Fri: weight in, Sat: Fight, Sun: weight in again and fight. I’ve been dieting and walking around close to the fight weight now. They are giving us a 7 pound increment. Im walking around closer to the higher end lol should I eat more since there still about 4 weeks to go or just maintain my calorie intake to stay the same weigh atm. Thanks!

Great video, thanks for the tips. For those who are not professional fighters and have other stuff during normal day, would you consider doing it with a little bit more time to cut? And what do you think is a safe number of lbs to cut in order to be healthy for the fight?
@GabrielVargaOfficial4 жыл бұрын
I like to go percentage based. I think 10% of your body weight should be the max you cut. Some would say that's not enough but I think that is safe. I've done long weight cuts and I found it harder mentally. Just my opinion but I think it's better to do a serious 5 day cut than stretch it out to 10+ days. I still have enough energy to do other things during that time. I used to still work and have school during weight cut week. Or course it's much nicer not having it and just being able to rest.

I believe you want to focus on foods that fill up the stomach but have less calories. Oil, cheese, etc has lots of calories but won't fill you up. If both fighters use the waterweightcut method, why dont you just fight 5 lbs higher in weight. Both fighters will have more energy and it will result in a more spectacular fight.

There would need to be a way to enforce that. Otherwise, they will just pack on more muscle and cut waterweight again. Hydration tests or something would be needed
