With all the new players coming to DayZ on Xbox Game Pass and the Free Weekend I thought it was about time that I made a beginners guide for the game I love so much. It starts off with the basics of survival, map, and loot but goes into how to get over gear fear and get fun interactions like the ones I've had. I hope its helpful and I hope you enjoy!

Encountered a new player yesterday and actually tried having an interaction. Gave him food, soda, a can opener and pointed him towards the nearest town. Felt good...then I realized I had pointed him towards the small base I had just raided where I replaced all the water bottles with gasoline...pretty sure I sent him on his way to find that and get poisoned. RIP poor new player I wanted to help!

Awesome video. Just started playing three days ago and must say the player interactions part is spot on. Current character traveled half the map looking for a cure to cholera. It was fun having to jump from well to well sipping constantly, hoping to find the right meds. It made its own storyline lol. Now I'm cured and trying to figure out what's next 🤣 I'm a new player so still learning!

I love stuff like this, when environmental factors give you a huge challenge to overcome. Yesterday we were attacked by wolves with a chambered makarov, managed to fight them off with low blood and health. but survived, healed up, and got into some fun firefights later on. MAkes you appreciate the character more when they make it through stuff like that.

I started on console and quickly moved to PC because console was barely playable due to crazy lag everywhere, duping and just an overall toxic experience. On pc the duping is gone, the lag seems to only really happen near bases with lots of loot inside and as for the KoS/toxicity....I think it depends on the server. I find that most people are KoS unless you’re on a full on RP or organic RP server. Have I had interactions on regular servers, sure but those usually take place within the confines of safe zones where you can’t even raise your weapon. Occasionally I’ll run across someone who isn’t KoS but those convos are usually very short with not much more of a “hey, where you headed? Have you looted everything around here? Ok by thanks for being friendly” I’ve been on pc for over a year and have had a grand total of one adventure with another player I didn’t know and even that one started out with him KoS’ing me but then he felt bad and waited for me to run back to my gear. We then proceeded to go on a mini murder spree for about 20 minutes before we decided to kill ourselves.

One of the first times i played the game i had collected some decent loot, after killing a zombie a player appeared behind me, he had worse gear than me and he was friendly, so i formed a friendship with him and a few minutes later we were looting a house, he had a shovel and i found a bottle on the ground and drank the water only for my "friend" to turn around and kill me. No wonder i have trust issues playing games now.

New player guide.... Dont use 3rd party maps. Play the game, and enjoy learning the map as you play, and use the in-game map when you find it. Use the in-game map signs also that are near trails and use those colored trails through the woods to get around. This will be much more enjoyable because there isnt much more immersive than being lost in a world you dont know your way around in, and you only get this opportunity 2 times in vanilla DayZ and thats with Chernarus and Livonia. Trust me, you will enjoy this MUCH more than using a 3rd party map. Once you know the map very well then using 3rd party maps maybe something you want to try but to start off with, learn the map on your own using in-game mechanics, thank me later

I'm not knocking your vid, or your information to your community... just figured for new players coming in and watching this video I would try to convince them to not use 3rd party apps right from the get go. Every play session is an experience and a journey, and you don't get many chances to immerse yourself and be lost while learning a new environment in DayZ, so sit back and enjoy the feeling of surviving in a foreign land.

I have only ever played the Arma 2 Mod version of this game (installing DayZ now), but man the best times were getting a bus/pickup truck, fixing it up and then collecting newly spawned players on the beach and raiding all the major loot areas. There is nothing quite like spending 4+ hours driving around a bus looting airfields with a bunch of people and having a laugh while doing it. Definately the best times in DayZ. Hope to recreate that sometime.

The trust no one is only when you get tl the t3 or 4 zones. When everyone is after the good shit other wise you can generally trust people in any pvp survival. But do keep an eye on others because death is annoying.

Love your description of DayZ... It really isn't all about the firefight... a lot of people play it strictly as a pvp "battle royal" style game and it's really not that... there is so much more depth to it than that... Although, I hate it now that it's been put up on gamepass... all the servers are full, with 100+ player wait times and the only ones that aren't completely full are the community pvp servers... where it's just like one big game of fortnite... it's ruining an already broken game... but I suppose I still love it... just hope it gets removed from gamepass soon :/

I have a rp server on Xbox if youd like the discord, its had 5 days of RP interaction only like robbing and talking and theres no KOS and base raids any the trader is open and buys and sells everything. It has it own currency system. On Saturday is base defense from other player raiders and on Sunday its KOS everywhere. Its a pretty good server and the admins and players are well chill. Its only like a month in wipe and it wipes every 3-4 months. It has 500+ members and the servers always a medium pop during day and like a very low at like 6 in the morning. During events its like a 2 queue

Played the DAYZ for the first time this past weekend. (free weekend on Steam). I've only played a few survival games in the past and almost exclusively on PS4. …. sooo I basically played all weekend and bought it Monday. I already know I'm going to dump endless hrs into the game. I played all weekend without watching any guides or learning anything except thru gameplay experience. Now that I feel I got some of the basics down, I'm going to watch some vids and actually learn about the game and features. So thanks for the guides & tutorials! Last thing, I'll share an early introduction to DAYZ experience - All weekend I didn't have more than a few hand waves interactions and 1 guy who never said or did anything other than follow me around until he died... Monday, one of my first spawns (maybe the first) after actually buying DAYZ, I spawned at night with nothing more than a glow stick, plum and rags but I was near some houses, so ran and tried to loot the few houses in the dark- didn't find much and decided I'd try to hole up until I could see a little (if I didn't freeze first). A player saw the light, came to the house and asked me if I needed any food or help. … I was like wow, wtf? Is the guy going to try and kill me? (I did have 1 interaction like that on the weekend too) But he gave me food, we traveled around for a while, showed me how to make fire and some other tips! It was very cool. It all ended well. I will say, he mentioned the cannibalism thing and ran me around in a big circle until I died … so he may have eaten me, I don't know. But hey it was a learning experience none-the-less :) AWESOME GAME!!

Encountered a new player yesterday after just starting to get on my feet, I had a field vest, hunting jacket, pants, and a decent backpack. I also had some extra food and water. I helped the new player who said he was starving, gave him some water and food. He didn't know how to get to Cherno so i showed him. While looting around with him i found a sledgehammer and gave it to him so he had a weapon, This entire interaction lasted an hour. Its at this point we wanted to walk to Electro, and it was also at this time i started having trouble hearing him in game because of my discord. I told him "One second man, i have to tab out and mute discord I'm having trouble hearing you". When i tabbed back into the game that guy i helped had killed me with the sledgehammer i gave him and took all of my stuff, Ahh welcome to DayZ....

So i want to say great BG vid bubba. You have out done yourself once again. Really love some of the highlight reels you have in the vid. Those were def sone of the top favs. This is also not only for new players but it coukd be for veteran players alike because you are always learning in this game no matter how much tine you have invested.. ***************Below is a spoiler alert. Doesnt really spoil the vid but some might find it as one. ************** So Amishzed touched on a really big part of the game in this vid and that was about encounters with other players. I agree with him 100% that it is not all about PVP and KOS.

I only recently learned about the mining stones and breaking them up into small stones. Super useful if you have a sledge or pickaxe but no knife

what server are you playing on to get these interactions all iv gotten so far is me and this guy teaming up he has a gun i have nothing i finally find my first ever gun with no ammo then he just shoots me in the head all i had was the exact same gun he had

Yep, trust no one... but at first, extend some trust. Gave a guy a lift his past Saturday, wrecked my Gunther, then humped it to the coast at Solonichi to get picked up by my bud in a boat. We made our way up the coast north, and were almost at out first outpost on the server when he got real shady and we realized we were being followed by a huey. Later we had a little-bird hovering overhead in the darkness, so we lit a signal fire and tried to make friends. They buggered off after the 5min till server restart came up, and never came back. Maybe next time on HappyBombs Ish. ZER.

Been playing for 3 days. Food for the starter is either none existent or virtually so. Especially on the official servers. Other than that it's a worthy pickup, bit of a slow burn, long term (learning) experience, especially now you can find the game cheap.

If I log out of the game with a character without dying can I log back in later with the same character and gear?

Most of the time yes. Servers don't do Character Wipes very often which would be the only time you'd lose a character when offline, Community servers usually announce in their Discord pages and Official announce on Twitter (and its usually timed with a big new patch like 1.19). Keep in mind that on Official Servers you're characters are connected in the same hive. So if you join a 1st Person Official Server and log off, but then join a DIFFERENT 1st Person Official Server, that character will go to the other server and be moved to a different location on the map.

My first "encounter" that I survived was basically coming in the back end of a game 20 minutes before a server restart and literally coming up on no loot except for a motorcycle helmet apparently I had no chance of that changing everywhere I went had already been looted and the only constant was starter cloths that people had changed out of. I thought for a second I had come across another player I ran and hid just in case only to quickly realize it was a zombie and there were a few others around in close proximity which heard the commotion and came running. I ran and jumped on top of a car which was quickly surrounded by Zed as I looked around my high ground prison I knew I was stuck and then I began fantasizing a passer by either saving me or even putting me out of my misery the ladder began to seem just fine as time passed then I noticed that Zed had begun to sort of creat a path for me to run freely and possibly through enough obstacles I could get to safety with no time I jumped off the car and sprinted around through and over anything hopefully getting further and further as I came to a clearing just outside of town I finally decided to stop and see if my dinner hosts had indeed stopped following me or if I needed to figure something else out again and quick and there was nothing I was good. I ended up running through the forest where I broke a small tree to get my very first DayZ weapon... A log. I saw no one and I'm almost certain if anyone saw me they didn't follow me as fear of turning around turned into paranoia I was constantly checking my 6 😅👍 round 2 tonight boys

Coming back after a few years and just getting server choices was a chore. I Purchased new DLC and spawned in near Sobotka. It seems unchanged except for the map and the HUD at the lower right. Raining and cold so yea that works also.

Iv'e been playing for a couple of days (6-7 spawns) and have starved to death almost all of the times and been extremely frustrated by the fact that there's no map in the game (by default) or any other resonable convenient way of navigating. There's not even a compass bar as in most games. That third party map will probably be the reason why I dont refund this game. Thanks!

Just got the game a couple days ago. It's challenging without a goal for sure but if you're playing on a high player count server people will always be entertaining haha. Mostly just hanging out sometimes. Brawling. Music. It's definitely a good time.
