Subscribed specifically because of this video. Thanks a lot. I've tinkered with cars (diy, not pro) for years so I know some of this, but it's great to see things and see them described a bit and actually pointed too. I wish there were a lot more videos like this. How much better are the dual steering stabilizers? Is a lift with bigger tires the main reason to get a dual or would a stock benefit? Planning my lift for bigger tires.
@Georgia4Low
@Georgia4Low 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support! To be honest a dual steering stabilizer is just for looks, I have since went back to a single unit and like it better as steering is lighter. A single stabilizer will serve you perfectly. Thanks for watching

Immediately subscribe because your tone and candor are absolutely excellent. Thank you for the simplified explanation. You are 100% right that people tend to bash newer jeep owners because they don’t understand some of the lingo that go along with Jeep’s. Is there a video you can suggest to freshen up your front suspension on the JK. Perhaps maintenance, torque’s and common issues. I get some bump steer and have recently developed a death wobble. RC 4’lift. Starting to think my pitman arm needs lowering and definitely know my drag link needs replaced.
@Georgia4Low
@Georgia4Low 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support. A 4in lift complicates things on a Jeep but nothing that can’t be fixed. I’m also new to Jeeps (2years). Bump steer is because the drag link and track bar are no longer parallel with the axle or with each other. In most cases adding a track bar bracket which rises the passenger side end of the track bar and flipping the drag link tie Rod on the passenger side. Adjustable control arms are a must with a 4in lift. I would recommend lower and uppers. Death wobble can be simple as mis-alignment toe or worn steering/ball joints/track bar etc.

I do appreciate the video. Fantastic information. I totally agree that some Jeep veterans come across as ‘know it all’ and try to show off their knowledge to new Jeep owners but don’t help since they forget that our knowledge isn’t as varied as them. That’s one treason I don’t join clubs and prefer to be a lone wolf. I’ve built an impressive Jeep and maintained it on my own, but it’s a big turn off so I don’t associate with other Jeep owners or clubs.
@Georgia4Low
@Georgia4Low 2 жыл бұрын
I’m kind of the same way as in not associating with clubs or that many other Jeep owners. I bought a Jeep because I wanted a capable vehicle with unlimited aftermarket support. I just don’t understand the Jeep Community at all and don’t want to. Thanks for watching
@jeeprubicon6650
@jeeprubicon6650 2 жыл бұрын
@@Georgia4Low totally understand. I’ve added things to my Jeep that aren’t even meant for jeeps and welded stuff together that works just fine (at a fraction of the cost)! for example, I replicated some mirrors from a military truck I used to drive using Home Depot tubing, parts from a 1962 pickup truck, a stick of gum and hope and dreams. They came out awesome and I get asked often where I purchased them.

LOVED Your Tutorial.. Thanks for the video.. It was very educational.. Question: Should the Stabilzer bar move up and down? I've had my jeep in the service dept (twice now and still not right, so its going back again) originally for "death wobble" and they've replaced the steering dampers (1st) then track bar (2nd) and jeep still not right plus there's still a noise .. any suggestions? (My husband took video of stabilizer bar movement bcuz it didnt move before they worked on it & thinks that may be where noise coming from plus the jeep still pulls to right & steering wheel is off center to left) I'm a bit frustrated and need help to figure this out. I've had my jeep 2 yrs with no issues until the death wobble. Again, thanks for the information and hope you can help.
@Georgia4Low
@Georgia4Low 2 жыл бұрын
“Stabilizer Bar” are you referring the tie rod? The steering stabilizer attaches to the axle and the tie rod. The tie rod has tie rod ends on each end. Tie rod ends are like ball sockets and the tie rod itself should rotate up and down.

New jeep owner, thx for the video, helped me to know what I was looking at. I have a question. I replaced my stock shocks with skyjacker black max. And a few days later I have squeaking from the front suspension, any idea what could cause it? Never had the sound with the stock shocks. Thx.
@Georgia4Low
@Georgia4Low 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never had shocks make that type of noise unless they are completely shot/blown out. With the Jeep sitting still and you push down on each corner of the bumper compressing the suspension does it squeak?

@@Georgia4Low don’t think it’s the shock, I narrowed it to the driver front side. When I push down on the front of the jeep it squeaks. It’s driving me crazy, no squeaking with stock shocks, and now with brand new shocks it’s squeaking.

Hello, greetings from Argentina, excellent video. my question is how long after being bought new can the front end of a jk 3.6l show wear with fairly urban use? thank you big hug!
@Georgia4Low
@Georgia4Low 2 жыл бұрын
The front end suspension parts should last well over 100,000 miles of normal driving on pavement with stock tires/wheels.

@@Georgia4Low Thank you very much for answering me so quickly, you are very kind. In my jeep I have 285/70/18 by goodrich tires, they are 3 sizes more than the ones that come from the factory. Could it be that these will reduce that thousand by half? thank you very much 🤗
@Georgia4Low
@Georgia4Low 2 жыл бұрын
I feel pretty confident that even with 285/70/18 size tires you should have great service life from the suspension parts. They could reduce the life of the ball joints and tie rod ends but I'm pretty sure you still should see 100,000 miles of use. Off-road would shorten the life the parts quicker.

What are the bushings called that are on the tie rod ends where they connect to the upper and lower steering knuckles?
@Georgia4Low
@Georgia4Low 3 жыл бұрын
The upper and lower steering knuckle is connected to the axle via Ball Joints. The tie rod it self has Tie Rod Ends on each end.

Hi Arthur, I know I’m a little late to this thread but I hope you still can offer some help. Both my 2000 and 2005 wrangler violently wobble between 50-55mph, no wobble before that or after. Would you happen to know what would cause this? Stabilizer bar, etc? Thank you!
@Georgia4Low
@Georgia4Low Жыл бұрын
First things is to check the track bar ends, mounting bolts, and track bar brackets for wear. The track bar positions and keeps the axle centered under the Jeep. Should be zero movement in the track bar mounts or ends. Next make sure the ball joints are not worn out, tie road ends as well.

I think when you said pitman arm is connected to the gear box you need to explain a little more. Is this specific to your jeep? what is the reason the steering would be connected to the transmission component?
@Georgia4Low
@Georgia4Low 2 жыл бұрын
The pitmen arm is connected to the sector shaft coming out of the steering gear box. It’s common for the steering gear box to be referred to as the gear box or steering gear box. Thanks for watching

Is the drag link supposed to move like the tie rod?
@Georgia4Low
@Georgia4Low 3 ай бұрын
Yes, it basically has “tie rod” ends on each end of the drag link.

Should your drag link have any movement in it
@Georgia4Low
@Georgia4Low 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the drag link has "tie rod" type ends that allow for movement. Tie rods ends are like ball sockets. They should not be floppin' around or any looseness in the tie rod end itself.

The tie rod ends on the end of the drag link and tie rod itself are “ball” type sockets and are designed to rotate and move in multi directions. I would suspect 1. Alignment 2. Track bar/mount 3. Tie rod ends 4. Ball Joints
