Never used a large shovel. AH, But for 25 years of detecting I usually was in yards, parks, old church's. SO, last 10 years have been out away from public places. I can see the need for a larger shovel/spade. I have a suggestion, I have notched the very tip of the small shovel with a "V" right on the point, Why? when you have a root you can get that notch right on the root and it will cut it nice. Another great video..
@DiggerDawn8 жыл бұрын
thats a good idea, on twiggys spade he has notched up the sides and its like a saw for roots! Thanks Bruce

I have to use a pick. Mine is long enough that I can put the top of the handle on the ground and sit on the bottom of the blade for a rest. I just hope I don't get confused in my olde age and have a nasty accident.

Nice useful review Dawn thanks as usual. Is there any chance of publishing the template that Twiggy used to cut the spade down? Also, why is the Fiskars spade better than a similarly cut down stainless border spade?
@DiggerDawn8 жыл бұрын
the stainless stell ones arent as strong, more likely to break and weigh more. The design of the fiskar makes it very easy to dig, I tried a stainless stell one ONCE did like it. Simon Bryant has just bought one, we are going to make a video of twiggy cutting it down and we will sort something out with a template!

Have you seen it Garry? Video went out last night kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGfVm6ScaK1qo9k
@inventor1v8 жыл бұрын
Hi Dawn, yes watched it last night thanks but i must have a different model as your measurements are for a bigger spade, i bought the FISKAR Border spade and it looks identical to yours but my spade is 170mm wide x 260mm tall so it looks like i'll just have to make up my own template. Nice video as usual tho. :-)
