You cannot underestimate the cold during early evening & night. I completed the trail in July and thermal gear IS A MUST if you are to keep warm.

the first major hike I did we parked at the beginning of the trail ans set out. we were told to just hitch a ride back once we finish. once we were done we and had a hard time convincing someone to drive us to our vehicle after. the group that finally said yes only had room to take one of us so I had to wait another 2 hours for my husband to get driven to the truck, then drive back again to pick me up, then drive the opposite way again to leave! the park ranger suggested that when doing a multi day hike always park at the end of the trail then get transportation(bus, hitchhike) to the beginning of the trail then start. we've been doing this since and it saves a lot of hastle and it's so nice being able to hop in your vehicle as soon as you finish the trail. it was a great tip.

I am planning to do a solo trip to WCT in july. It would be my first solo trip too. I am fit enough and have pretty confidence. What are your suggestions for first time solo hiker ? Is it advisable or what ?

How much did the trip cost you overall? How much money would you recommend bringing o the trail?

Hey. My husband and I will be doing the trail this July this summer. I am considering bringing a wood burning ultralight stove like the Solo Stove. This stove runs on twigs. From your experience, are there abundant twigs on the trail or do you think it would be too damp to consider? The benefit is that the stove is ultralight and you don't need to carry fuel. I would bring some Esbit solid fuel tablets to use as a backup fire starter. After your experience what do you think?

You might get away with it, it entirely depends on the weather. The JetBoil was great for us and we only used a single can of fuel so taking two was not necessary. The fire material we found was mostly beach wood and worked fine, but the trail is notorious for bad weather so having a back up would definitely be advisable. Good luck!

@@DigitalNomadTV Thanks so much for this. We will go with my pocket rocket! One more question if you have time. How was the fresh water supply. We are thinking of the platypus gravity water filter with a backup of drops. Did you have any problems or advice for fresh water?

Awesome video series! How available were the drinking water sources? is carrying 1L enough for the longest sections between watering holes?

jason chew thanks! Water is generally only at camp sites. I would recommend 2x 1l containers, you can refill one and have the purification tablets in it working whilst you drink from the other and rotate them that way. Worked fine for us 👍🏻 good luck!

water is generally overwhelmingly plentiful from Camper to Carmanah. Not merely a the campsites, but the innumerable creeks also. there is a big gap from north of kuitsche creek to somewhat past Nitinat without usable water -15-20km without useful water. Then it is plentiful again right to Pachena. We brought several 2L platypus bladders w drinking hose, plus a 500ml bottle. Usually have 1-2L on board or more. total pac weight includin 2L water at the beginning was 27lbs, 15lbs at the end.

you 2 are amazing! Thank you for all your videos. My 2 daughters and I hope to do WCT in 2018. We are starting our research now, along with day and 1 nighter hikes this summer. You've assisted me with starting my LIST of supplies and food and we will be purchasing books as we continue our research this year. Thank you both, would love to follow you on an instagram?
