In January this year, I actually managed to read gone girl without being spoiled beforehand. I went into the book without knowing anything about the plottwist and oh boy, I was blown away.

@@tesioh5869 general horror is like Stephen king or things you’d find at a lot of bookstores (idk how else to explain this lol) extreme horror is very graphic and tends to be written by more indie authors with the intent to offend or shock

Gone Girl was so predictable, although if I had read it 10 years ago I think I woudn't guessed it. But I really hate this book, I will not say why because it will be a spoiler though. "Sometimes I lie" is good, has my favourite twist, but "Rock, Paper, Scissors" is an all time favourite for me. Also recommend Silent Patient, all time favourite as well. I stayed until 2 am to finish it and I had my jaw dropped for 5 minutes. Riley Sager hit and miss for me as well. Love Final Girls and Home before dark, but absolutely disappointed by Lock Every Door and House across the lake was a joke I read one book by Shari La Pena, it wasn't bad, but predicatable for me. I am willing to give her another go, but the moment hasn't come yet. Dark Matter in me TBR

Yeah I think some of these books can be predictable to people who read thrillers often but for a beginner these might blow their minds (hopefully) hahah because when I read all of these years ago I was in shock. Ugh house across the lake what a MESSSSSS lol I hope you enjoy Dark Matter!

I really enjoyed Blood Sugar and Gone Girl. All of Gillian Flynn's books are great, I also love I'm Thinking of Ending Things and Foe By Iain Reid.

The Silent Patient is what got me into reading in general. I tell everyone about it. I feel a little bad because towards the end, I called the twist ending. Even though I figured it out, it still shocked me. And I still say it's a 5 star. Excellent book. I'm actually starting to get into Lisa Jewell, I'm currently reading Girls in the Garden. I definitely plan on reading more of her books. And I have Home Before Dark on the way, perfect for Halloween. My personal murder mystery recommendation would be The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. Oh my God. I LOVE that book SO MUCH!! Everyone needs to read it.❤

I still took notes so I can follow along properly but halfway through, I stopped taking notes because it was surprisingly easy to follow even with the jumping timelines and characters. The whole time I was telling myself "I know who the murderer is!" And I was very wrong on all of my guesses. That's when you know it's a good murder mystery. I absolutely LOVE Stuart Turtons style of writing. And I need to read his other book Devil in the Dark Water and he actually announced on Twitter he's releasing another book soon! We have to read it! Excited!! ❤️

@@gracekami4655 The only thing I have a problem with both books is that both are 100 pages longer than necessary. What I love most in 7 Deaths,... is that we witness something and when the main character is someone else we understand how this something actually happened.
