Could anyone recommend an equivalent of VTI in UK? As much as I love your videos, I sometimes struggle to follow your advice. It would be great looking into European Vanguard investing options and mentioning them on your channel, since you live in Europe and many European investors follow you here. Thank you 😊

Never invest in a bond ETF! Invest in individual treasuries, CDs where you will get your principal back if you hold to maturity, something you cannot do with a bond fund. Avoid emerging market funds because they are made up of 50% or more of Chinese stocks that will plummet if geopolitical tensions sour with China.

Do you specifically build your investments to pay you out dividends or just growth? How would you build to be able to make a monthly amount?
@moneycessity

You don't want to focus solely on growth or dividends. It's more important to go after the greatest possible return!
@hiphopjewels
@hiphopjewels 11 ай бұрын
They seem to be focused more on growth, but their growth stocks pay dividends as well. Even the S&P 500 will pay you dividends of about 1.5%/year. Individual stocks like KO will too. You would get dividends quarterly, every three months. If you want to average it out per month, you'd assess your yearly dividend income for your portfolio based on the total value and dividend yield of the assets, and divide it by 12 to determine the approximate average per month.

I like your content. the comparison you made is real and I think more people should be analyzing their paths similar to the way you presented your case. In addition, I think people need to know that, by investing in a broad spectrum of US stocks (VTI), they will have a built-in international portfolio. A large number of the largest US companies have an international reach and that's because those companies are succeeding in the international markets. Also, VTI has a 1.5% + yield as well as a positive ytd return. This covers all the arguments made for the 3 fund portfolio. Thanks for your insight. Cheers

Why BND and not VMFXX which returns over 5% (5.3% as of now). VMFXX is made of t-bills (government treasuries)…I know it is not an ETF but much safer and a sure >5% increase of your money. Personally I do VOO and VMFXX - the later for the money I may need in the near future (1-4 yrs horizon).

Just to throw in a monkey wrench. Do a backtest of 100% VOO. I always hear about VTI having more diversification but no one mentions that diversification comes with underperforming the S&P500. I recently sold out of VTSAX for VOO. I don’t see a year in the future let alone decades where a higher weighting of the top 500 companies underperforms a lesser weighting of all stocks, including the ones at the bottom of the barrel. Just me and Warren Buffett I guess.

I always appreciate your content! May I get your input? I'm close to getting a job offer with a national financial company (EJ), but to my surprise, they require their employees to move many of their retirement accounts to their company. I don't know how that can be legal or ethical. Have you ever heard of that or what do you think of that? I have IRA and brokerage accounts with two low cost brokerage firms (2 I know you recommend), and I don't want to transfer my investments to a high cost company.

In the past, I could see a strong argument for specifically allocating a portion of your portfolio to non-US companies. But now, the entire globe is heavily correlated with the US economy. I am not sure if non-US allocation is necessary anymore since many US companies are internatinal and global trade has reached the place it is today.

My husband and are both 60 and we have 500k in the stock market, for a year now, Fidelity has been managing our portfolio for the last but we have lost thousands! Fidelity has our portfolio diversified with many, many different funds and none have gained any significant increase, and we still have to pay a management fee! So my thoughts are that maybe we should relinquish Fidelity from managing our portfolio and establishing our own portfolio with the funds you have recommended. I feel like we've lost huge ground this year. Or is this happening to everyone because of the current economic crisis and should we ride it out with Fidelity managing our money. Side note, we do have several CD's and a high earning MM and rental property generating positive cash flow. No debits.

@@priscilamoreyra6215 watch this video for a few of them. This guy talk about 10 of them. I personally went with IXN and XLK. Just make sure you do your own research before you buy any stocks or ETFs. Once you research you will find out that most AI ETFs invest in the same companies at the top 5 and then the diversification starts. The percentages will vary but the stocks are the same. MSFT, Apple, Nvidia, Google, Amazon are almost always the top 5 in almost every AI ETFs. Your decision would be in which other companies you want to invest and find an ETF that include those stocks.

You are wasting returns investing in VEU. You only need the VTI and BND. Back test this against your 3 fund portfolio. I would add VIG or SCHD instead of a bond fund. Diversification is overrated and overstated. The XLK, SCHD and XLV beat VIT VEU BND 3 fund portfolio the last 10 plus years. If you are not in your 50 's and near retirement you should not have bonds in your portfolio.

@@CentralFloridaRealtor If you don't mind my two cents, I recommend VYM and SCHD. Both are 3%/3.5%, dependable and not a lot of volatility. VYM holds more companies and is a bit more stable, and it has been around longer. SCHD has better overall performance for the time it's been available. It is a tad bit less stable than VYM though. I would say because of the higher expense ratio, 0.25% is higher than 0.03 or even 0.08% this eating your profit over the long run just for the sake of rebalancing for you instead of you doing it twice a year.
