definitely still the best sounding version on youtube even with the crappy sound quality, on top of his skill in being able play with power and accent the right notes, he's also the best at applying pedal to the piece and it makes such a huge difference

This guy's name is Kevin Aprilio. He's Indonesian celebrity, he's in band called Vierra. His mother is a famous singer and his father is also a famous conductor who also made this concert. He was born among the musician. Anyway, his father decided to made this concert after one day he heard his son playing this song. He asked who made that song and Kevin answered Nobuo Uematsu and his father search all of his songs, he loved it and made a concert. Well, that's what my friend told me.

I don't really care if he makes a few mistakes because he passes them off well. The thing I really like about this guy is that after listening to a few maybe perfect versions, I still like this version best. I love the way he treats the song. He doesn't slow down on the tougher spots. He actually takes advantage of crescendos and decrescendos and tempo. I haven't seen a better representation of this song yet.

It is Tifa's fighting scene with Loz. And yes he made a couple of mistakes here and there but its a difficult piece to master.

The rhythmic changes for the broken chords in both the left and right hands mean it can be quite challenging to play as well as make it sound how it's meant to sound... it's one of those tunes where getting your hands shaped to the notes isn't actually enough. Oh, and DANG.

he totally messed up at 1:46~ , plus, at 2:25-2:35 there's a triller missing (and it sounds so emotionless...) the entire performence is kind of emotionless in terms of progression, except for his moving sometimes. i don't want to say that it is played badly (because i played it myself in a concert), but there was no personality in it, no "interpretation", simply basic playing. i'm harsh, i know, but when you play the song, and you know that you can play it, you "speak" through the song

Neogothic, this battle theme trully wins it all.. but i have to agree.. FFVII is too overrated.... the countless game sequels, its on movie.... neglecting the fact that FFVIII is more storywise.. well in my opinion..... plus, i heard that they're in the process of making a remake of VII.... i mean come on.. i think we had plenty of FFVII that it over shadows the other Final Fantasy series.. no disrespect guys.. just stressing out some facts..

yayaya i know he has the pressure of having people watching him all over and I can definatly reaspect that but people don't forget stage performers are just that they are used to that kind of thing and it really doesnt make a huge impact on there performace... on the other hand the quality of this video and sound capturing could well be the difference between this video and the w3sp video

To be honest, I liked the original PS one version of this battle tune the best, complete with the break in the percussion during the last line before repeat. I wish there were a live orchestral rendition of that original version, but can't seem to find any. The heavy brass and F-minor key makes it especially dark and militant sound.

w3sp's big video that contains those who fight was taken in 1 shooting, he did not have a second chance to do it, which is why tehre is actually mistakes in his performance, he even states so himself. but even still i do agree that w3sp has a better interpretation, not that kevin sux, but its just too slow in some sections.

haha.. you know what he told me about the piece? he said, "I used to play that song 3 hours a day." well, my only reply was a nervous laugh. I couldn't stay in front of my dearest piano for 3 hours a day.. That boy in the video can stay 8 damn hours a day.. well, it's not 8 hours non-stop but still.. geez.. 8 hours a day!!

you guys are deaf, it does not sound emotionless at all, he definately made some terrible mistakes, but that does not mean he did not play it without emotions at all. just because you do not like the way he is playing, and that your style of "emotion" does not fit his, does not mean there is no emotion

@Ainigma Totally agree, it about as vibrant as if you just ran a midi file through a piano synthesizer....at least there wouldn't have been the dozen or so bum notes if you did that ¬_¬ From about 2:40 on is absolutely terrible, in the crescendo at 3:04 he makes about 10 mistakes in about 4 bars.

When you know this song as well as I do then you're able to point out all his mistakes. Sorry to say he makes A TON of mistakes. you can even tell by the look on his face. Hate to say it but he is still EPIC and AMAZINGLY talented. i wouldn't want anyone else playing this song but him!

I would say its entirely possible to make a better performance. I suggest you look up this same song by w3sp. He's noticeably faster, more accurate and doesn't slow down during any of the difficult parts. All he's missing is a huge audience to show appreciation.

I find it really good. I miss the little more "musical" side of this song. It's difficult to compare with kyle or w3sp 'cause he is playing live. So it's normal that kyle plays better on his video. w3sp is even more better than kyle, nearly perfect

I like this version more. He plays with more feeling compared to the w3sp version who plays it to play it perfectly. Also don't like w3sp's tempo, and his low parts are too low.

If you play at such speeds, you wouldn't ever be able to read the notes while playing at such a rate anyway. When you play really fast your vision doesn't really matter that much, it's all about your fingers.

I play the piano, and trust me, if you play a piece a certain amount of time, your fingers will memorize the notes. btw I'm on page 2 so far, and my hand cramps up after playing it 3 times >_>
