Wrong Way!

Күн бұрын

Today we take a look at the GotWay mten3 after 500km of riding. We will find out if it still holds up in 2021 and whether it is truly suitable for all types of EUC riders. This electric unicycle is the smallest EUC that you can currently get but it still packs a punch and can surely outperform other ewheels in its class. But is it really designed for every day use? Let's find out!

I watched this, and then got the mten3 anyway as a 1st wheel. It's fucking amazing. Day 3 of learning and I couldn't be happier. I ride really really slowly because I don't want to wear protections but I'm fairly sure it's still usable as a proper transportation on short distances.

I've known about this model for a while and never understood its utility until today. I needed to make a run, took a ride share to the destination, then walked home. The walk cut into my workday. THEN, just as I was almost home, the wind went nuts. Unlike my V10/11 wheels, I could've hopped off of the mTEN and stuffed this into a backpack. I'm reconsidering this.

Merci pour cette vidéo Adam! I had ordered an Mten3 for skills training and short trips the store, after seeing plenty of videos about people liking it. But after a few Gotway wheels caught on fire I decided to never buy another Gotway until they improve their manufacturing and QC, so I canceled my order. I was starting to regret my decision (it does look like fun), but I also had a feeling that it was not very comfortable even for short rides. After watching this video (and the one from Alien Rides that you mentionned where he bent a pedal hanger), I have no more doubts. I had no idea it was this fragile. My trusted V10F will be my training and shopping wheel. Merci encore!

Thanks for the review! I’m closer to 114 kg so this wheel is not for me at all, but I did pick one up for my daughter and I think she’ll be able to ride this alongside my Tesla v2 for a decent run. Definitely a good wheel for kids and maybe quickly teaching some adults provided they are within that ideal weight. If my daughter learned in a couple days, I think they can too!

So sad you didn't like the funnest wheel ever made. Your mistake is treating it like a 'normal' EUC.

I like it Marty! But it really scratches when i ride it on one leg (when starting) and i feel like I’m a bit too heavy for it. Love how nimble and fun it is but I feel like i can get more fun out of the other wheels with better safety :)

I have the 67v version and I can verify that this is accurate. Replaced the whole motor because my axle snapped and I'm working on the tubeless conversation but it's an absolutely amazing little wheel that actually fits in a backpack.

Thank you for your videos. A while back i thought that euc is dangerous and i will never try it, and there is nothing better than electric scooters(since i have one ^^ haha) but watching your channel and few others ive changed my mind completely. I still love scooters but now i think that euc is better in many aspects even though i never rode one. Cheers

I find myself disagreeing with most of your comments :-D The mten3 is my first and only wheel so far but I find it fun, nimble, tiny. It' easy to ride on small sidewalks and not take a lot of space. Literally an extension of the body. I am also 75kgs and I don't find myself overpowering it. I also don't mind the lack of trolley handle as it's only 10Kgs. So going up and down stairs is easier than any other wheel really. I would love to have a bigger, more powerful wheel for longer rides but I think I will always keep this one around.

There is an unobvious trick to make mten3 more comfortable and less "bumpy" to ride. You need to switch pedals to "soft mode"-this will act like a suspension. Try it!

The point about the necessity of being loose on that wheel is very good! Indeed if you try to tame it and hold it firmly between your feet, you'll get tired pretty fast. But if you bend your knees and ride or as on a mountain skii, then you get a more fluid ride.

I guess it depends on what you are after. I use mine at slow speed (usually when I'm with someone who is walking) where its manoeuvrability is amazing. It's powerful enough to get up mostly any incline. It does tramline and this can be unnerving at times, but overall it's a great little wheel.

I disagree. 110 kg and riding the mten3 offroad is really no problem at all. It is reliable, range about 20 km at temperatures around 0° and 20 % Battery remaining also is not too bad. Walking the dog on a leash requires a bit of experience though :-) What is really great on this wheel: once you slip aside in the mud you can stabilize the wheel even at a sideways angle of up to 15° which I cannot do on my tesla or RS. I do not keep it loose between my legs since I modded the outside with two layers of cellular cautchuk plus the original pads on top (original padding at the ankles). The wide tire may be prone to tramlining but also reacts on micro movements so you can keep it perfectly straight ... just have to learn to. More or less the same with RS. Maybe you give it a try at 40 psi :-) ... even 45 is fine. No flats so far (600 km) even on very rough ground.

I will add that the stock tire is a lot slippery in muddy environments and wet grass ... I enjoy it a lot in the road but it gets uncomfortable after a while riding it... I drive pretty slow most of the times because I go out with my dog I weight 55kg 177cm tall... with the 67V 420wh version is hard for me to overpower from the start but definitely on higher speed or uphill you can feel that you can overpower it ... I'm happy whit it because I got It used at a good price (1€/Wh) with the trolley handle included... but I am planning to upgrade once more to something bigger like msx to be completely safe at any speed and road imperfections!

I rode an mten3 and thought it felt ridiculous compared to other wheels I've ridden (from 16" to 22' tyres) With the wheel so low against your leg It was really squirelly and didn't feel safe at. For a young child it would be a good wheel because it would be proportionally correct, but not for adults imo.

Good to know. I was kinda tempted to get one, it being so cute and small. But sounds like it’s of poor build quality. Having looked at many vids on different Gotway wheels I get the feeling that Gotway build quality often is poor. Too bad, why do they not better their quality and thereby up their sales? Braking the axle, grinding noise when standing on just one pad, really? That’s just no good.🙁

@AnisKadri
@AnisKadri 3 жыл бұрын
I am 50/50 about learning on this wheel. I find the bigger wheels to be more stable as the contact patch between the wheel and the inside of your dominant leg is bigger. But then it's a LOT easier to maneuver the mten3, do sharp turns, ride backwards etc…Either way I find EUCs to be extremely hard to learn (compared to other PEVs) so you'll need patience.
