GOTWAY MTEN3 - Aug 2020 - Ride and thoughts [Plus riding tips]

I traded in my Evolve electric skateboard for a Kingsong KS-S18 and a Gotway MTEN3 512wh battery with 800W motor. This little electric unicycle (EUC) is just so much fun. If you can get hold of one go and try one out.

Its such a great little wheel. Look at dropping some tubeless smile in the tyre to not have to worry about flats. Works a treat. Just make sure its for tubeless and do not add in too much for the small size wheel.

Awesome, here by me its been raining like mad. I was all kitted out yesterday and went from the house down the road and was soaked. So returned wet as a dog. Have a great time on this wheel in between the weather.

I got one 2 weeks ago and its been a ton of fun. Not my first wheel. I've done about 52 miles on it since I got it, but the first weekend I was riding backwards in the grass and somehow the pedal smacked my shin. It was literally the worst bump I've had in my life. I skateboarded for a decade so I know all about shin damage. The mten3 gave me a third knee on my shin. The worst part is the bump was right where my power pads touch my shin on my big EUCs so Im smacking it all the time haha. The pain is worth it though!

Yes even the small ones can really give you allot of pain but man its such a fun wheel. I sliced my leg over on a push bike standing still and had much better luck with the EUC's. Hope you heal quick and you can get some more riding done. Just watch out for overpowering the wheel as you put the power down. Good luck and thanks for watching.

Good video! Have you tried using the app to adjust settings (calibration settings, etc.)? With mine I feel like its difficult to calibrate properly (sometimes settings don't stick or work at all, etc.)

Hi there, thank you for the comment. I have only calibrated mine ones as I found that the peddles dipped forward but found out that this was a firmware problem. But I have not had to use the firmware update yet. The calibration for me worked on the one time I used it. But man you must remember the apps is not the best. I updated the firmware on my S18 and halfway through it just dropped the connection. Not a good feeling. Some times the settings also only stick if you make them and power off and power on the wheel. But on the MTEN3 I have only calibrated once and set the speed to full speed. That all worked. Hope this helps

Andre, love your video as it is very insightful. Have you had a flat on your mten3 and have you considered converting it to tubeless?

I have not thought about that as I have not had any problems so far. I have a slow puncture on my Ninebot Mini Pro but a quick inflate sorts that out for a long time. But its a good idea as it not ideal to slime a tubeless tyre as its a mess. Have you seen anyone doing it as I would also be interested in looking at that. Thanks for watching.

Try pushing on a flat surface on one leg like skateboard push. But add some thick padding it is easier. Do it 10 minutes per day to gain muscle in your glutes. You will see you will do one leg ride in no time after a month.

I had terrible wobbles when braking on my mten 3 which I never experienced on bigger wheels. Maybe I got a faulty wheel out of alignment. What is your thoughts? Thanks

Mmm this is very weird. Mine is really solid but they can be a little active if your foot position is not spot on as the wheel and the foot plates are a bit smaller. Also check your tyre pressure that its not too high or too low as this can also cause it. The other test you can do is the lift spin test. Just be careful when you lift the wheel when its on. Hold on tight and check if there is any wobble. Hope this helps and let me know.

What app do you use? Idk which app to use to sync it to the euc…

I have tried the Begode app but its not working too well and I dont like the look of it. I use Darknessbot on the iPhone and I would use EUC World if I had an android phone. They are both good and you can track your rides that is really nice. Hope that helps.

What is easier to learn on bigger wheel or small wheel?

There are usually two train of thoughts about this. First small wheel is lighter and lower too the ground and some people find it easier to handle and move about Second is the bigger taller wheels, they are more stable to get going on but they are also heavy and not as easy to move about. I learnt on a 16 inch wheel as its a good mid size and its got enough power and speed for most riding. Yes the smaller wheel are lighter and the bigger ones can cover more terrain but it ends up what you going to use it for. The smaller wheels are a bit more of a challenge to get going compare to the bigger wheels. But if you learn on a small one then you learn so much more skill as you need to adjust so much on the smaller wheels. So with all the info above the bigger wheels are easier to learn on. Hope this helps.

Why you did not show the most important Calibration and how to unlock it. Where is the bottom locate it to unlock this wheel?

This is a good topic for another video I will do. Mine did not come locked (old way of doing it) and I did not need to calibrate as it was sorted. But this would make a good video. Thank you for the tip and feedback.

You should have put 2 or 3 Oz of slime in the tyre to prevent puncture. Efficient anti puncture.

Oh yes, I have been keeping the slime out of this one as I think it does not have a tube. I need to check this. Its its a tube then I will drop some slime in. Thanks for the comment and watching.
