Comprehension A) Arrange these events in the correct order. The Begum discarded her purdah and took control of the state and the army. The Begum was forced to flee to Bhitauli after the British occupied Kaiserbagh. Begum Hazrat Mahal was declared Regent. The East India Company annexed the state of Awadh and exiled the Nawab to Calcutta. Begum Hazrat Mahal agreed to make her son the new Nawab. The British officers and their families were shifted to the Residency. Begum Hazrat Mahal felt lonely and abandoned in the royal palace. The Begum rode the streets on her elephant and exhorted her soldiers to fight on. The Begum finally took refuge in the Himalayan kingdom of Nepal. Raja Jailal Singh and the Raja of Mahmudabad sought an audience with the begums.
