I really need to remind myself of this. All nighters have become so normalized, but sleep is one of the important key factors of good school performance. Unfortunately my body has been facing the consequences of sleep deprivation, im hoping that i can improve my study habits so that I can go to bed earlier!

I have not slept for more than 3 to 4 hours for the past three months and yes it is starting to take its toll on me like a few memory problems and severe back pains but I have gotten my dream result so far. I tell myself that if you work hard now you can feel successful later and get justice. By the way I get free at 9:30 PM from school and classes which have no breaks between them. Then I pull off all nighters to finish my homework and by the time I am done ✅ it is already morning and time to go to school and repeat the same cycle over and over again. Atleast the result might be worth it.

I always make sure to take a good night's sleep before the exam day and don't study afterwards anymore. Haven't failed a test in years. Start studying soon enough and then trust your knowledge! Go to bed to save everything you've learned in the day of preparing. Anything more you do has zero effect on your result (if not negative because you will be tired).

If you didn't study much before, and you aren't confident you know much of the material, then imo pulling an all-nighter is the right decision. I've done it many times, and it has always worked out for me. Not ideal, but better than going into a test with nothing. The essay portion is interesting, though. Luckily, most of my tests were multiple choice in the course I recently took.

I've been there. Had to pull a few all-nighters during my college years in order to get my projects done on time. The nighttime is basically another afternoon, making the whole experience feel like one long day that never ends, but it feels like it goes by faster because your're on a deadline. The worst part is when the sleep deprivation kicks in the following morning. 😫

Well in a podcast a gastroenterologist said that the people who've been destroying their circadian rhythm in their teens, 20s or 30s are more susceptible to diabetes, heart attack and all kinds of chronic diseases. He also added that in your first 40 years you do whatever with your body and after 40 you start to see the results. And all this stuff "doesn't matter when you wake up but matters how much you're productive" so yeah night owls gotta be careful
@melissa_abbott
@melissa_abbott 2 күн бұрын
@@mitali_negi07As long as a person is getting the usual 8 hours of sleep, it doesn't really matter when they're up for studying. The only problem arises when you have traditional working hours, which is mostly the case anyway, so it's advisable to sleep early to finish those 8 hours. There's a hundred other things currently making you more susceptible to diseases, most you can't stop.

I wish those were more easily accessible where I live. Microdosing was my next step for my husband. He's 59 & dealing with lots of mental health challenges, possible CTE & a TBI that put him in a coma for 8 days. Unfortunately, I had to get a TPO since he's 6'6, over 300 pounds, and showing violent behavior, constantly talking about harming others. He's aggressive. To anyone reading this, if you're familiar with BPD, is it common to have an obsession with violence?

This is the norm for us neurodiverse people, because if there's no sense of urgency, then it's 'out of sight, out of mind' until that urgency triggers a response. An over-reactive response, of course, but it's the only time we get anything done, for the most part.

I work in medical field n pull all nighters regularly. Same goes for studies. I also feel more focused in night compared to day. I do all nighters during prep days, but as a rule, I always get a 5-6 hrs sleep on the night before exam day. That makes me focused n refreshed during the exam time. What I have seen among my peers is that, there r morning & night people. Night people manage well with reduced sleep, morning people not so much. So it is better to establish a study pattern according to ur own comfort rather than following some one else blindly.

Interesting perspective, but are we overestimating the importance of sleep? Many successful people thrived on minimal sleep. If pulling an all-nighter gets me through an exam with great results, isn’t it worth the trade-off? Perhaps it’s less about hours slept and more about how we maximize our waking time.

@@alex2005z You're absolutely right! While some successful individuals manage to perform well on minimal sleep, the majority actually thrive and sustain their success with quality rest.

I can’t sleep on planes, or anywhere in public for that matter, so whenever I go on an overnight flight I essentially end up pulling an all nighter. Then things get weird with time changes but ye

Before the invention of agriculture (and drudgery) humans went through a lifestyle of hunting at night and sleeping during the day. Every once in awhile, one of us is a throwback to those times, and it's not harming us in the least to stay up all night.

The first part might be true, but the fact is that our ancestors still slept. This video is talking about the effects of sleep deprivation, not when we should sleep.
@jaspermcjasper3672

@@ouch1011 Your statement is just not accurate. This video extensively refers to the effect of not sleeping AT NIGHT: 0:42 - "... and they're heavily influenced by light". 0:53 - "As the sun sets, your eyes send signals about the dwindling light to a part of your brain ...". 3:09 - "As the sun rises ...". 4:41 - "... sleep each night". There are some places that appear to be neutral about WHEN you sleep. For instance references to "your normal bedtime", which could be any time of the day or night depending on your normal schedule. Also, at 4:48 - "Studies have shown that students who keep regular sleep hours" get better grades. It doesn't say that the "regular sleep hours" have to be at night, only that they have to be regular. So, yes, there are a FEW statement that are neutral on WHEN you sleep, but far more cautions about what happens when you don't sleep AT NIGHT.
