Yeah that pretty much sums up my feelings. He's pretty old school technique-wise, the type of drummer who could just sit down at a kit and wow you without needing triggers or a specific setup to do so.

I don't think it's because he don't have the passion. But what he's doing demands incredible physical skill and accuracy. He doesn't miss a note, and he doesn't raise or lower the tempo. He is extremely tight. So I just think it's because he is concentrating :p

dizzle49er I've never really thought of Lars Ulrich as being a technical drummer. His style seems to be more showy and less technical. Lets face it, Lars is a showman. I remember watching a drum battle between Lars and James Hetfield and the thing that surprised me is how much better James' technique was. Lars is a bang on the drum kind of guy.

That's what amazing me about most of these drummers. They make it look so fucking effortless! His stick heights are not that high but he just has so much velocity behind his strokes that they(stick heights) do not need to be super high to project!

Sorry to interrupt your little discussion , but German , american grip , what are u talking about ? they are two types of grip , tradicional and matched , hand having bad timming playing with Metronome means that u can not hold the tempo and thats the main function of a drummer , the most important thing u should is old the tempo and try to keep your stokes solid , on that Nickelback song ur snare is tottaly of tempo mate u should worrie about olding the tempo instead of playing with Power
