+jamdwhi death metal as a whole sounds all the same, it's infested with triggers and drummers who use them because they hit like little girls, which is why I cannot stand this music, I enjoy a lot of metal and metal sub genres but death metal is boring as hell. If he didn't have triggers he would sound even more horrid than he already does.

What's wild is that's not even the fastest he or other drummers can play. I always wonder what time feels like to drummers that play at these speeds when they are performing.
@jonathanmellqvist2 Жыл бұрын
@@ThaBeatConductor personally I don't have a clue about how much time when playing. I don't experience "time" at all. I can play for hours and it feels like 30 minutes. Doesn't matter if I'm playing behemoth or acdc or even slow jazz songs.
@ThaBeatConductor Жыл бұрын
@@jonathanmellqvist2 I don't mean the passing of time, more like are they able to subdivide time better or "slow time down". I wonder the same thing with any person that plays any instrument super fast, but I feel like it's more pronounced on drums. I suspect it's more about training ones brain the just know when something is right versus when it isn't. I'd imagine a lot of it is just too fast for 100% conscious control. Also, I'd imagine anyone that can jam on an instrument loses track of time really easily, as that is always what it feels like to me when playing or making music.
@dustins382 Жыл бұрын
@@ThaBeatConductor"what it feels like to drummers at this speed" I'm a mediocre drummer but a pro sax player. My input here is when I'm playing fast I actually have to think slow. There's a lot of time spent slow for precision. And how it feels to be slow then keep that slow feel into fast. It's a lot of work. Any mistake at speed, I'll slow down to get it more precise. It's a lot of muscle work and any time I've thought of it as "fast" I've failed. I'm a very rhythmic sax player so I think my experience can relate to these drummers.
@ThaBeatConductor Жыл бұрын
@@dustins382 I understand the mental space/processing or lack there of required to be fast, I meant more strictly time perception. I bet it's like a blink and it's over kind of feel? Since one essentially has to consciously "tap-out" because actually thinking about what you're doing is gonna mess you up when going fast. Just gotta let "muscle memory" take over.

I think Inferno and Eloy Casagrande are the two best metal drummers of this time. What's interesting is that they're both on opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to playing style. Eloy makes drumming look like the most physically demanding activity in the universe; when I watch Eloy playing, I know for a fact I can't do any of that. Inferno, on the other hand, makes it look as simple as something can be.
