George Kollias, undeniably one of the fastest and most precise drummers in metal has been playing for 23 years. Francesco Paoli has been playing for only a little over 4 years. Just to put that into perspective. This man will be incredible one day. He is already amazing.

@Dboyboy97
@Dboyboy97 11 жыл бұрын
This song is actually only 135 BPM. But Paoli's rolls and double bass are 32nd notes in 4/4 time. Which equates to 270 BPM for your standard 4/4 16th metal drums.

what type of overly complex math did you do to come up with that, just tap to 1/2 of the song's bpm. much easier to do 135x2 than count how many notes exist in 4/4.
@fabiofsumi
@fabiofsumi 4 жыл бұрын
without the note value, the bpm number of the "click" does not say, how fast it is, at all. I could say I play on 1600bpm, but in half notes, or I play only on 25bpm, but in 128th notes. in the end, it is the same speed. People like to set the bpm in a way, that the fastest notes are 16th notes. Thats, why most people say it's 270bpm. In the end, it is how you would transcribe it. you can't hear, if it is 135, 270 or 540 etc.
@tiyenin

BPM is based on fastest subdivisions = 16ths. Ergo, 270.

@@skullyozeez6781 That's probably because he and Francesco Ferrini composed the songs together. Paoli was the vocalist and guitarrist of the band in Oracles, so he had a different point of view when writing drum parts. I guess that's why the drums simply follows the strings, even though it stands out for the speed.

That display of speed here is absurd. May not suit everyone's taste, but I can recommend something from another blistering drummer. Sunless Rise - Eidolon. Not all the vocals may be for you, but the drumming is nuts.

AnimeFreakSasuke Regular rock drummers tend to hit harder so each strike is more abusive, but they also favour thicker sticks. Striking cymbals on the side (hats included) will hurt the sticks as will various techniques that work the edges of the stick rather than just the tip. It gets expensive. ;)

Excellent execution of the heel-toe technique. Very clean. The overall performance of the whole band sounds amazing. I just heard about these guys and I am truly impressed.

"The drumming of Francesco Paoli is simply astounding! His speed, accuracy and creativity are that of someone who has been playing their entire life, but Francesco has only been playing drums for about 4 years. Keep it coming!" From sickdrummermagazine . com That article was posted in 2012 btw. I've seen the same thing on georgekollias . com ("I wrote him and he said he plays drums since 2009") and on metal-archives . com ... He used to be an awesome guitarist and vocalist though.

Watch and learn Dave Lombardo ^^
@Vorgaloth
@Vorgaloth 8 жыл бұрын
+MrScientist90 Learn what... blast beats at 270bpm? Why does Dave need to play like this? Should everyone? You must be a youngster. They're different stylistic drummers dude and I'd bet you Francesco would list Lombardo as one of his influences. Certainly one of the most influential drummers in metal. You're an idiot.
@MrScientist90
@MrScientist90 8 жыл бұрын
+Vorgaloth I cannot agree more with you, u are right, but its just my personal opinion and you are rude. I am not calling you idiot and still I can be older then you are, don't judge others if u don't know them. Btw let's not argue about this, both drummers are excellent and both I lke very much. Peace brother

Dave Lombardo is the godfather of double bass. without him this guy wouldn't be playing what he is right now. what this guy do? better yet what did he invent for music like dave lombardo and pete sandoval did?

@MasonBangsDrums He was the vocalist of Hour of Penance from 2005-2010 (and he's a BEAST at that too!), before he left to focus on his other project, which is Fleshgod. He also played the guitar and vocals for their first album "Oracles." Now he just does session vocals and session guitars.

I will say though the dirty vocals could have more variation. Instead of just cookie monster death metal. If they could have some shrieks in there as well it would give me goosebumps. Critics know everything tho right? Lol. Either way these guys are amazing
