we don't speed up our video's, it double strokes = 2 hits vs 1 like singles thus high tempos and effortless motion. Francesco learned it from John Longstreth.

Push pull in german grip. Its got other names but its all the same thing, rebound made louder with the fingers and the wrist in tandem. Its very similiar to the motion you use for double strokes.

This song is actually only 135 BPM. But Paoli's rolls and double bass are 32nd notes in 4/4 time. Which equates to 270 BPM for your standard 4/4 16th metal drums.

what type of overly complex math did you do to come up with that, just tap to 1/2 of the song's bpm. much easier to do 135x2 than count how many notes exist in 4/4.

without the note value, the bpm number of the "click" does not say, how fast it is, at all. I could say I play on 1600bpm, but in half notes, or I play only on 25bpm, but in 128th notes. in the end, it is the same speed. People like to set the bpm in a way, that the fastest notes are 16th notes. Thats, why most people say it's 270bpm. In the end, it is how you would transcribe it. you can't hear, if it is 135, 270 or 540 etc.

Paoli was the vocalist and guitarrist of the band in Oracles, so he had a different point of view when writing drum parts. I guess that's why the drums simply follows the strings, even though it stands out for the speed.

I think he simply messed up the Fill, so he screams his frustration. But to the mortal eye like mine I cannot distinguish such a mistake, but for his god eye, he probably suffers it.

Nah, that scream came from the clean vocalist Paolo Rossi. Francesco does not have a mike so the drums and guitars easily suppress his voice.

I was lucky enough to play alongside him for a gig, and asked him his technique, and it's indeed a double stroke. I was amazed at how cleanly he's able to play them though. Truly a humble and amazing drummer. :)

Yup, he was originally the vocalist for HOP for all albums other than Sedition. Never even picked up a drumstick until 2008. He just decided he wanted to play drums and now he is. Look at the Mafia EP. At that point he had only been playing for 2 years.

The 3rd Bass Drum is actually the next bands' (headliners most likely) drum kit. Smaller venues will have the openers play on the stage floor, then the main act has a drum riser so they're ready to go after the last opener. No set-up needed.

THIS is the kind of drum work I really love. Nick Barker used to satisfy my craving in the 90s or so, and well, still can. But im nearly spoiled now by Francesco Paoli. That display of speed here is absurd. May not suit everyone's taste, but I can recommend something from another blistering drummer. Sunless Rise - Eidolon. Not all the vocals may be for you, but the drumming is nuts.

AnimeFreakSasuke Regular rock drummers tend to hit harder so each strike is more abusive, but they also favour thicker sticks. Striking cymbals on the side (hats included) will hurt the sticks as will various techniques that work the edges of the stick rather than just the tip. It gets expensive. ;)

@MasonBangsDrums He was the vocalist of Hour of Penance from 2005-2010 (and he's a BEAST at that too!), before he left to focus on his other project, which is Fleshgod. He also played the guitar and vocals for their first album "Oracles." Now he just does session vocals and session guitars.

I will say though the dirty vocals could have more variation. Instead of just cookie monster death metal. If they could have some shrieks in there as well it would give me goosebumps. Critics know everything tho right? Lol. Either way these guys are amazing
