Interestingly enough, xenarthrans (the group that includes sloths and anteaters) and proboscideans (elephants and mammoths) are both part of a taxonomic clade called Atlantogenata; meaning sloths and mammoths are more closely related to each other than one might think. One could theorize that Behemoth (and possibly others of his kind) may have been the very first members of the Atlantogenata clade that branched off and convergently evolved to have the characteristics of both sloths and mammoths.

As a huge paleontology nerd I love behemoth. In my opinion though he resembles a mix of mammoth and calicotheirium more than a ground sloth, mammoth mix. Although him being from south America the ground sloth aspect starts to make more sense.

Behemoth has the brown fur and curved tusks of a mammoth, the posture of a gorilla and the face of an elephant seal. They are quite unrelated but they come together to make this titan and it works.

Well, elephants and sloths are related belong to a magnorder of mammals called Atlantogenta adapt similarities niches first emerged from the Cretaceous and radiated in both South America and Africa when Gondwana breaks apart. It’s likely one of these early mammals made their way to Hollow Earth and evolved huge to become Kaiju when diversity. However, Behemoth whose descendant, made back up to the surface to gain the powers of nature and bows to Godzilla.
