I have been to Øya festival 5 times and its not only a pop festival. I have seen Behemoth, Mayhem, Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal and Darkside there, but also Kendrick Lamar, Arcade Fire, St. Vincent, Outkast, The National, Omar Souleyman, Highasakite, Chic, Father John Misty, Beck and Jaga Jazzist. And all of those concerts was great! So I wouldn't call it only a pop festival. It has something for everybody.

This isn't a typical Norwegian metal crowd at all... go look at live footage from Inferno Festival, or gigs at Rockefeller or Scentrum Scene before you throw BS trash like "mimimi.. the crowd sucks! mimimi".. it's beyond sad to even comment on it.

But with extreme metal shows, fans have already heard the albums countless times, so at the show, they are supposed to give some of the extreme energy back.

Thats.. not necessarily true. And believe me, I've been to enough heavy shows to learn sometimes the crowd just doesn't want to mosh. They're definitely into the music and digging the band, they just don't want to tear shit apart for them. Hell, I saw Behemoth on their last big tour with Slayer, there wasn't a pit all night until LoG went on. Same thing when I saw Parkway Drive, there wasn't much of a pit, but everyone was screaming loud enough to put a ringing in your ears. It just depends sometimes.
