Saw them open up in Kansas City in 07 with Machine Head, Trivium, and Lamb of God. My brother and I got there early and hit the bar at the back of the club. They came out to Flying Whales, so that slow intro started right after the lights went off. They all come out lookin' like Metallica from the 80's, all in black and wristbands. We started walking up to the stage and that shit hit... it was like we were walking in to a wall. There's no describing it. I was instantly hooked. There were a lot of memorable moments from that show, but to this day, my brother and I still talk about the first time Gojira hit us in the face with sound. No lookin' back since.

It is not that much about the nationality as about the fest itself. It's Polish Woodstock festival. However, they had to change the name of the fest last year. It is the biggest open air free festival, no tickets, hence so many people. And it actually doesn't matter if it is metal or reggae concert. There is no other place like that in the whole country, it is an enclave of real freedom. This is our sacred place and we celebrate each concert there that way. We warmly invite you to come and be happy with this extraordinary community we have there. The fest takes place on the Polish-German border on the first weekend of August. If Gojira wins the Golden Spinning award in the voting of Woodstock fans, they should come again to receive the award. This is how it usually works with Woodstock. However, big foreign bands rarely come for the award.

Seems like they do that at every show, they played in India once when they were a bit popular and the guitarist came to the crowd in front and shook hands with people. I was there too.

No one ever talks about Jean-Michel Labadie, but he's a monster live.

@@juanpablobernasconi9854 "Dziękuję" means "thank you" and the second one is "kurwa" which means "a whore" but is used like "fuck". The most common swear word in Polish I guess :) Hope that helps :)

All this about the drummer and vocals. Let's give the rest of the band some love too! These guys are a complete package. They filled a hole where tool used to be for me. And what a message too! In an industry filled with dark songs where evil sells, these guys are where the heart is!

My complaint when I saw them. Horrible sound guy. All I could hear was drums and bass hats it
