a lot of metal bands don’t really let the bass cut through the mix much. behemoth is an exception. not only is the bass loud enough to be heard clearly over dual guitars, but the bass lines are written in a way that is doomy and atmospheric, but also bright and rhythmically complex at times. orion isn’t just echoing the guitars and providing a low end, he’s doing his thing and providing valuable contributions to the song as a whole. in metal especially, bass players are typically just playing root notes or acting as just another guitar, so it’s incredibly refreshing to hear such a heavy band give so much emphasis on the bass.

I love bass and as a bassist it's refreshing most just follow the rhythm guitar. Bouncing off the drums and filling with the lead guitar sounds amazing.

I’m a HUGE fan of bass in my music and being able to hear it cut through. I don’t like when it’s drowned out. I like the bass to be played almost like a guitar but keeping time w/ the drummer for the bottom end. It’s why I love Tool and Maiden so much.
