You genuinely seem blown away from this song. And rightly so, I remember stumbling upon this by accident on Spotify one night, I shit my pants and haven’t been able to stop listening since.

Behemoth is one of the greatest bands of all time. Are you familiar with the influence behind The Satanist? Long story short is the singer Nergal is always underfire from conservative Christian / Catholics in Poland, has had a few court appearences for blasphemy etc., and back in... 2012 or so he he got diagnosed with leukimia. While he was quite literally on death bed, the same people who were prosecuting him were telling him it was God's way of punushing him, and if he were to repent he would be freed of his suffering. Well, as you can see, he pulled through and realeased the Satanist, which I would have to agree is one of the best albums of not only the last 10 years, but one of the best ever made!

Perfect summary! Only thing to add: Check them out live if you get the chance. They're a blast!

Friedrich Jens I saw them on the tour right after the Satanist was released, blew my mind! And i'll be catching them on the upcoming Slayer tour... Personally think they should be higher on the lineup

My first Behemoth album was Satanica and they've only gotten better since then. They continue to put out insanely solid albums with the Satanist being in my opinion the most important and best death metal album of the last decade or more. I have sadly only seen them once live in support of Demigod, but god what a lineup. Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, Gwar and Behemoth. Well written summary, one of my top 5 favorite bands of all time.

+Shane Beckthold I think if I was Polish all those Catholic right wing not jobs would probably dive me to Satanism, if anything just to piss them all off.

You should check out Behemoth - Chant for Ezkaton 2000 live at bloodstock. Another awesome black metal artist Ihsahn solo work which sounds like Opeth and he was the front man from Emperor who just released a new music video called Arcana Imperii.

I got to see Behemoth in the early 2000s with Nile, Black Dahlia Murder, and the legendary King Diamond. (What a show!) You have the chance to see Behemoth live; do NOT miss it. Hard to explain how good they sound live. We met Nergal post show as well, and he was a great dude. You should also check out Gormathon, either Land of the Lost or Skyrider as great starting videos for the band.

Behemoth are most definitely the real deal. Regarding what they believe, originally Behemoth were very strongly a band based on what is known as Thelema, though recently they seem to have moved into a more gnostic Luciferian twist, I believe they are still Thelemites primarily.

Nergal is an atheist or more specifically an antitheist focused on Christianity. Judging by the interviews I read, he doesn't seem to believe in any supernatural beings or afterlife. Behemoth is an act, at least for him.
@MoraAzura6 жыл бұрын
Spotterino Cappuccino i'm sure that Nergal is not atheist, luciferian is the form of satanism that seems to be the more familiar to Ner'

It's always in black metal a kind of real thought of the band and a performance, if you were trying to see black metal in a kind of "building an army" or stuff like that I think you'll never like that kind of music, of course, Behemoth now play's more death metal style but it's the same intention. Even you can see it in a lot of documentaries in which Mayhem for example talks about their music and performance, I mean that's why the first influences of these kind of music are Black Sabbath and Black Widow isn't it?
