@@bcc5701 in very simplified terms (there are exceptions), all lawsuits in which one of the parties is either one of the states, the Union or an federal autarchy, the jurisdiction is of the Federal Courts. Although part of the judiciary, it is separate from the state courts. Corruption criminal charges at a federal level fall into their jurisdiction, as all crimes committed against federal entities, states, the union and autarchies.

@@bcc5701 It is something similar to a district court, in the sense of having jurisdiction over one or more states, but it's in charge of lawsuits related to the federal goverment, just like corruption charges and mismanagement. Also, it has the responsability to judge those accused of political crimes, financial crimes in the private sector and disputes between states and indigenous nations. Meanwhile, the SC's in brazil are called "Tribunal de Justiça", meaning justice tribunal, and are in charge of more common lawsuits like family matters, inheritance and crimes against private property and against life, they oversee the conduction of juri trials.

@@OrdinaryThings Dilma calling her impeachment a coup isn't just her being self righteous, it's something that's slowly being accepted even by former supporters of it. She was impeached because of a technicality, one that most politicians/presidents are guilty of. She was taken down because she didn't have strong political ties, was sending away people involved in scandals (including from her party) and got in a riff with high rank bankers. Operation Car Wash uncovered a lot of deep corruption but was also full of irregularities and corruption within itself.

@p o p TV episodes often begin as notecards on a board. "The View from Halfway Down" began as one. For years, BoJack Horseman writer Alison Tafel says, showrunner Raphael Bob-Waksberg had had an idea that BoJack (Will Arnett) would somehow end up at a dinner party with all of the show's characters who had died, and a notecard representing the idea - reading simply "dinner party" - "floated around" the entire time the writers' room was planning season 6. "We knew that we wanted it to maybe happen this season, and then when we realized it was the last season, it was like, 'Well, it has to,'" Tafel tells EW. "Eventually, it landed on being the penultimate episode, which I think was really fitting." Each season, BoJack Horseman fans would await the penultimate episode with bated breath. Though widely considered some of the series' best entries, those episodes reliably delivered the show's darkest moments and most bruising gut-punches: BoJack trying to sleep with an old friend's teenage daughter, his former costar Sarah Lynn's death, a journey through his elderly mother's dementia-stricken memory. As literally and figuratively the penultimate BoJack episode to end all penultimate BoJack episodes, "The View from Halfway Down" would be no exception.

That's because ALL western Democracies are fake. It's the illusion of freedom and choice. All run by the WEF and groups much more secretive and powerful than them. All presidents are puppets. Doesn't matter who you choose they're already bought and paid for. The media is owned by a large corporation just like the Government. Remember Government means mind control. All your indoctrination i mean "education" is to program you to be a good little patriotic, consuming, debt slave. Then your TV PROGRAMMING and Government Propaganda, "News", maintains that fairy tale so you continue on believing you live in a free country, that you make your own choices, countries actually exist, and CONSUME CONSUME CONSUME! While you go to work and watch TV PROGRAMMING from birth to death your owners strip away all your freedoms and convince you they actually care about you, everything they do is for your own good. Sadly most will never even realize how brainwashed they truly are. In your reality truth is conspiracy theory and complete made up lies is truth. Smdh

I'm brazilian and let me say, although very condensed (it's hard to put over 70+ years of historical context into half an hour) this video is probably one of the overall best not only in the international community but overall about the coup attempt, i just wanna contextualize and say some things about the video: -Whatsapp is EXTREMELY popular here, almost everyone uses it, and those that don't tend to be the elderly and the technologically uninclined, in fact, its so common that people often say "can i have your Whatsapp?" instead of saying "can i have your number?", to put in perspective the weight of the political rallies organized through whatsapp. -Investigation into a possible fraud in the electronic urns came to the conclusion that, in a highly unlikely scenario the urns could possibly be vulnerable to an outside attack, but that it didn't happen, this of course helped drive the more intense supporters of bolsonaro to protest the results. -Lula was released from jail, but not innocented from his charges, that happened because Moro's trial was deemed to be unfair towards Lula, it is still very likely that he and those associated with him did something wrong, either passively or actively. -Bolsonaro is very similar to Trump in his discourse, even with more liberal policies in the recent years, Brazil is still a mostly christian and conservative society, and with Bolsonaro embodying these values, and his rough and tough position towards crime, he quickly garnered support amongst the more conservative public and the center, not only that, but after several years of corruption and inneficiency spearheaded by left leaning parties a lot of people had a sour taste towards those more liberally inclined. -The more intense support towards right wing parties is somewhat recent, in fact, Lula and those allied with him had the public support by a fairly large margin for the better part of a decade, this trend definitely started after Dilma's impeachment, almost as a comeback after the military coup in '64, but this dives into cold war history territory. -Police was heavily criticized in how they acted during the 8th of January, since police is well known for being, unquestionably, very brutal and violent during their operations (this is an undeniable fact, despite what others might say), and that they acted fairly passively in contrast to their normal behavior, this is rooted deep in the violent nature of Brazil but that`s another story. -The only part that somewhat bothered me in this video is that it says KZbinrs and other digital influencers played more of an important role in the elections, internet discourse and everything that comes with it definitely shaped it by a significant portion, but the KZbin microcosm is definitely not as important towards how people acted about politics, it`s more of a byproduct of everything than an active agent of it, like with Facebook and the North American elections. -And to cap it all off, Brazil has a very different political and cultural mindset varying by each region, think of the difference between the North and the South in the US, but it's five regions and they're all xenophobic towards each other, in fact, a lot of the political fighting tends to be the more conservative regions (Typically the southern ones) against the more leftist ones (usually the northern, altought some of that has changed in the latest years), this all was probably one of the major factors, if not THE biggest factor, that helped pushed political unrest against the left, since Bolsonaro and Co. played on that difference a LOT to push their own objectives. So in conclusion, this video, is, as per usual with this channel, very entertaining, funny and well researched, which is the exception when it comes to people talking about Brazil, specially outside of itself, a lot of the seemingly more outrageous and shocking stuff coming from Brazil is very common place here, it's a VERY violent and chaotic place, rivaled only by active warzones and even worse Latin American countries, this shapes how people go by when it comes to politics, politicians usually use this to direct and manipulate people's outrage, the 8th of january and everything related to it isn't something orchestrated by an expert cabal of machiavellian agents that weaved a carefully made conspiracy and failed to coup the government like a lot of people, but a "repurposed" and chaotic outburst of fervor that was used by our "dear leaders" to try and further their position. (thanks for reading all of this if anyone actually has, im definitely wrong about several things, so please correct me if i messed up in anything)

Hey mate, just wanted to point out a small error in he video. You mentioned a few times that Sérgio Moro was a Supreme Court (STF) judge, but that’s not actually the case. He was indeed a judge but under the Regional Federal Tribunal of the 4th Region (TRF-4), which naturally holds less power than the STF. TRF-4 was the tribunal that actually condemned Lula to a dozen years in prison. About a year and a half later, it was STF that declared that jailing those condemned in second instance trials (which was Lula’s case) as unconstitutional, which inevitably led to Lula’s release.
@detectordegados5292
@detectordegados5292 Жыл бұрын
But it's good to mention the TRF-4 decision was not alone, it was reiterated by the Supreme Court in 2018. So the Supreme Court actually agreed with Lula's sentence but changed their mind afterwards
@dinamosflams
@dinamosflams Жыл бұрын
there is another error here they did discussed about setting free the ones imprisoned in second stance, but this decision was overruled in 2019. the reason why Lula was released in 2022 was because of 3 reasons: 1-he was judged in the wrong instance 2-moro was having too much involviment with the arguments of the attorneys, meaning he was influencing the trial, which is unconstitutional 3-the only crime he was improsoned was for passive corruption (meaning he gained bennefits from someone else's corruption) but since the appartment he alledged going to buy was not in his family and that he inly visited his friend's ranch in attibaia, never having possession over it made the accusations void as a proof for any crime. thus the entire process was comcluded as legally worthless and Lula was set free.

@@Mrscoutification As an outsider who has many brazillian friends an visited them in 2015 I love brazillian people but brazil as a country saddens me. A very important update for this moment 5:22 Turns out... Bolsonaro's kid might actually be gay. In a recent investigation about that family's illegal activities, they asked anyone who was involved with them. Some guy who worked for Bolsokid (the nickname we gave him) claimed he was actually his boyfriend, or ex boyfriend. He provided text messages between the two to prove it, and the court actually verified their authenticity. Bolsokid obviously denied it, saying the guy could've faked it some other way, but nobody believes him because it would imply Bolsokid leaves his phone with sensitive information about his family unlocked and the guy used it to fake those texts.

Obviously, you didn't get everything 100% right but some details are kinda complex to put out in a video about a 4-10 year long political situation of a country as bizarre as Brazil. What's most interesting, if not a bit worrysome, is that Bolsonaro has been signaling for a military coup ever since his first year in the presidency, and its frankly a miracle of his own incompetence that he wasn't able to do it then, when he had the most of his support and Covid wasn't a thing yet. Furthermore, it's good to add that the situation of his government's own state of corruption is being more exposed daily, with some sort of new event happening almost every day. By this point, uts a no brainer that Bolsonaro is gonna be arrested soon, unless some sort of juridical bullshit happens, which is frankly not unheard of here.

CQC was an argentine tv program that often would make fun of politicians and famous people here in Argentina. The program was so famous and funny here that later other SA countries would imitate the same format. CQC means "whoever it falls" meaning that it could be a random people doing shopping or a politician doing a interview, the host of the program and a few panelists would do some crazy/funny/stupid joke or a complete serious interview about something really important. And omg if you ever do an Argentina video (doesn't matter what about, economics, corruption, crime, etc.) You are going to have so much fun with all the stuff that happens here lol

@Ordinary Things - This wasn't just good. This was great. This was as detailed and as passionate as your london landlord video, and it shone through. Perfect way to describe it, it just shines. You should be so proud of this. It feels like you're hitting your perfect stride, this video and others like it show your work at it's absolute best, and I hope to see many more in the future. The intrigue, the slow boil of one building block on another, the viewer putting things together while remembering their own attachment to the event. It's so evocative. I could go on for so long, but for now I'll simply say: Well done. Very well done.

That was a great rundown. I've been watching from the balcony as it were seeing all this play out having arrived in Brazil some years ago from our green and fair land. Would love to have a chat. Thanks again for the time and humour you brought to this.

I was born in the UK in 2005 but I'm half Brazilian so I really appreciate this. People don't really pay attention to the politics in other countries until it's too late and I hate that. I've never been able to understand why politics is such a mess in Brazil fully but it most certainly consists of a complete split of values amongst the population pertaining to religion and its doctrine's influence on the law, just how the economy needs to be run and whether democracy is even viable when the country is so susceptible to corruption and violence. Thanks for doing this, it really demonstrates how delicate the situation is, but also how stupid it is, because of how easily people get manipulated by politics because of a lack of education or apathetic responses to pleads for people to stay fully informed. I hope lots of people see this.
