Truly miss Claude, he was a great Bruins coach. I was crestfallen when he left, but grateful for his impact. This clip was awesome to see him again in the room, and give a fantastic speech! Thank you Bruins organization for setting up this moment! 🐻🖤💛

All coaches have an expiration date; even the great Bill Belichick did. Claude is still a great guy though.

@@Raise35 Claude was significant in emphasizing defense, and getting defenders involved in scoring. Prior to that, it was not common to have defenders scoring, aside from the great Bobby Orr of course. Can't argue about the Tasmanian devil Tim... But it was Claude that brought defense to the Bruins modern era. Claude, as well as goalie coach Bob Essesna, put up with Tim Thomas. Many other coaches wouldn't deal with him. Goalie Bob was always ready to dress for practice, there were days that Tim didn't want to show up! So, goalie Bob did it Many other coaches would have booted Tim Thomas hyphen they didn't want him. Tim actually played in Europe for many years, as he didn't have a great deal of success in the nhl, people didn't want to deal with him - and that's where he got his Tasmanian Devil international training. Claude Julien was willing to deal with Tim thomas, where other coaches would not. Hell of a guy! I'm absolutely not going to argue that Tim Thomas standing on his head during that series got us where we needed to be. But that brought in the era of players like Zdeno Chara and defensive scorers. So I'm going to give credit to both. Because nobody else was willing to deal with Tim Thomas! He is since a "changed man" now... Or I should say he's grown. People don't change anything but a dollar bill and their underwear. (We hope!) ✌️

@@Raise35 when Julien took over in 2008-2009, the team was in total shambles. some how some way. he got them in the playoffs. than gave the number one seed, montreal everything they could handle plus some. Bergeron only played eight games. the team was decimated with injuries. plus playing young players in heavy rolls.

How's that the coaches fault blame the soft team that thought they were going to be handed the cup on a silver plater from the regular season success Florida outplayed them
@floydthompson93329 ай бұрын
@@uncleleo9415Key word: soft. That tough mob that Chiarelli assembled with Julien behind the bench won it all in 2011. Think McQuaid, Thornton, Lucic, Nathan Horton, Johnny Boychuck, Gregory Campbell had no fear. Neither did Ference or the German Hammer, Dennis Seidenberg. Let's not forget Big Zee. And they won. This year's club will be hard pressed to match the physicality of their opponents in the playoffs.

Claude Julien went back to Montreal as head coach, within a couple weeks of leaving the Bruins in 2017 Then he had to leave Habs for a bit, because of heart issues, according to the press then returned as Habs bench boss but was eventually fired The following season I think they had a under .500 record He was supposed to coach the 2022 Beijing Olympics team, but he broke his hip or something. If he wanted to coach in the NHL he'd likely be there but I think health problems might be holding him back at this point Some of us ole farts can relate! Great to see Julian back in the locker room. That's one of the best REAL coach speeches I've heard in a long time
