Since my mom and I work with babies I've had to listen to a lot of children's songs (most are just the old songs that they slightly changed for some stupid reason) but the main problem is the pronunciation, there is a song that goes " build a wall to keep you safe from cannonballs" or something but the pronunciation is so bad it sounds like "build a wall to keep you safe from cannibals" 💀

You are My Sunshine is a VERY sad song written by a man whose wife left him. I know it in its entirety because of the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack. Chorus: You are my sunshine, my only sunshine You make me happy when skies are gray You'll never know, dear how much I love you Please don't take my sunshine away I'll always love you and make you happy If you will only say the same But if you leave me to love another You'll regret it all some day (Repeat chorus) You told me once dear, you really loved me And no one could come between But now you've left me to love another You have shattered all of my dreams (Repeat chorus) The other night dear, as I lay sleeping I dreamed I held you in my arms But when I woke dear I was mistaken So I hung my head and cried (Repeat chorus) In all my dreams dear you seem to leave me When I awake my poor heart pains So won't you come back and make me happy? I'll forgive dear I'll take all the blame (Finish with chorus)

Bro I remember listening to only the first part of the song as a kid and becoming sad every time and not knowing the reason lol XD it all makes sense now lol Ngl, I thought this song was about losing a loved one because they died, when I was a child lol. The part about not taking my sunshine away, I thought they were talking to the world, not their loved one lol. And honestly idk which one is sadder lol XD
@Nada_Thinks25 күн бұрын
I remember me and my mom used to sing this everyday while she drove me to elementary school. During the first verse when we sang “when skies are grey” we’d always say either like or unlike today depending on the weather. We also sang a second verse but it was different from the one in the video, although similarly depressing looking back. It went “The other night dear As I lay sleeping I dreamt I held you in my arms But when I woke dear I was mistaken So I hung my head and I cried” Usually we’d end by singing the first verse again.

In all honesty; songs contain different means; depending on, the contextual narrative; that’s brought; to the forefront; for individuals to understand. If someone truly understands the larger constructive nature; of song lyrics; they will search inside, the; meta narrative side; of the lyrics; instead of , just perceiving the lyrics as the lyrics are; while ignoring the larger lyrical context. Your video was, truly, very insightful. ✌️
