BEHIND THE SCENE TOUR of TransLink's Vancouver Transit Center! | I ❤️ Transit

Happy I love Transit Week Everyone! I drove a Trolley Bus!!!!!!
This is a tour of Vancouver Transit Center!
Last Friday, TransLink invited me and Trevor to test drive their trolley bus over at VTC.
At VTC, ‪@TransLink‬ gave us a tour of the whole transit center specifically their simulator, garage, and even driving their 2006 trolley bus!
Did you know that there is a speed limit on the trolley governed at 60km/hr?
There is also a speed limit on how fast they can go through the overhead switches! 8km/hr if they are turning and the rest at 20km/hr.
There are so many things that a trolley bus driver has to watch out for during their trip: overhead wires, what type of wires they are, releasing air on the doors when fixing trolley wires, and keeping visual contact with the wires at all times.

IKKRR Me too!! There’s so much that goes on in the depot for a bus to operate safely on the street!

In Switzerland, trolleybusses don't have to slow down at intersections usually, since it's "just" a crossing of the wires in a 90 degree arc, without any switches right before. Most of our actual switches are fast-speed ones, so you can pass them to the left or to the right with up to 40 km/h. The switching happens while you're basically going straight, the actual turn and separation at the intersection happens maybe 100 meters or 150 meters after. We have to watch our speeds at underpasses though (30 km/h max). Raising and lowering the poles happens automatically with the press of a button. When raising automatically, we have to make sure that we're standing at the perfect spot, so the poles can click into the small triangle shaped helpers above the wires.

開巴士很好玩喔！我以前學生時代很無聊，就跑去考巴士駕照（我差不多10幾年前考到的），感覺會開巴士再看普通車子會覺得很小台🎉 但是我沒有開過職業巴士，因為我的工作不是開巴士 而且亞洲很離譜，老師都讓我們自己亂開，很危險（他也不想看我們開的如何）
