Join us as we get the grand tour of Wolf's Fang Runway (WFR/AT98) in Antarctica - looking at what it takes to keep this blue ice runway and surrounding airfield and ice camp operational. We get inside the PistenBully and groom the ice runway, we go inside the comms box to see how they receive and relay weather and other critical info between aircraft and ground crew, and we see what it's like when the incoming jet has to divert back to Cape Town ("boomerang") due to high winds. Finally, greet the inbound A340 when it tries again the following day.
If you ever wondered what goes into operating an ice airport in Antarctica, you've come to the right place.
This is video #4 in the Antarctica series. Don't miss the first three videos!
