Please, was the Phantom set in the Victorian era? Love the musical and the clothes
@RealAngelOfMusic3 жыл бұрын
yes, it was🤗

The majority is set in the 1880s, so towards the end of the Victorian era. The “present day” section at the beginning is set in the early 1910s so that bit is Edwardian era.

@@therealameliabedelia7821Is it the 1910s I thought it was supposed to be around 1900 or something at the starts since that was when the book was written. I know the book is a little confusing on when the main story is set with things supporting the 1870s, 1880s and 1890s with some things such as gas lighting and electricity etc. Or is the musical doing it differently from the book?

@@therealameliabedelia7821I can afirm to the dresses actually looking correct for the 1880s the only thing that irks me is Christine's hair, beautiful as it is, it should be worn up she isn't a child even though she is very very young, I believe she is maybe supposed to be around 16 to 18 or in that region at least in the book to my memory.

@@bethanbaker7066 The installments that became the novel was first printed in newspapers in 1909 and the novel itself published in 1910. So it leans more towards the 1910s than 1900. The date given for the beginning of the musical via Wikipedia is 1911, which I don’t remember being specifically mentioned in the musical. But you also have to consider the passage of time from the visual of Raoul in the musical. If the auction section was set in 1900, only twenty-some years would have passed since the main events of the story. As it is, 30 years is pushing it for how old they make Raoul look at the auction, let alone only twenty. The movie adaption of the musical adjusts it so the auction takes place in 1919.

i thought they have there own makeup artist. so they makw there own makeup?
@Niqhtmusic4 жыл бұрын
I think only the phantom needs a makeup artist, but they need hair managers because they can’t do it alone
@ausername54104 жыл бұрын
I noticed that while I was watching behind the scenes at Frozen on Bway. I noticed that Caissie was doing her own makeup, and was surprised. I guess that’s a normal thing, though!
@pip12784 жыл бұрын
I'd say that most of the time, actors do they own make up. Unless it's something special like the Phantom or Elphaba getting green, they all do their make up (I'm not a professional at all though, it's just something I noticed with all the backstage stuff you can find on internet 😉)
@Niqhtmusic4 жыл бұрын
Unless you’re elphaba, or the phantom I think they do their own makeup. Unless it’s honestly really complicated
@RealAngelOfMusic3 жыл бұрын
I thought that too, it was so foreign to me 🤭 at my theater everyone, from main character to choir kid gets their makeup done by professionals
