Wow !!!! That view of the booking office window takes me back 46 or 47 years. I was at Tywyn school from 1973 to 1978 and used to visit Wharf station in my lunch hour. I will be forever grateful to David Woodhouse (General Manager) and Phil Care (Booking clerk) for showing interest in me and teaching me the ropes. I learned how to sell tickets and man the Control desk in the Wharf office. Subsequently in 1978 I applied for a job with British Rail, supported by Dave and Phil who kindly gave their references for my application. So i will always be grateful to the Talyllyn Railway for "training" me for a life on the big railway.

I really enjoy your videos they are a great shop window for the railway. I agree that seeing the team behind the scenes is very helpful - they're the ones that stop the metaphorical wheels coming off the TR after all. Good for you for presenting this video and every success in your role as "Lady Topham Hatt"!

Thank you, Lorraine, for a well-presented tour of the building where the purse strings are held! Taking on extra roles is never easy, but I hope you will consider presenting again. You are very good at it and seem just daft enough to be conned into it.

I know that the railway has changed a lot since 1951-2 when Tom Rolt wrote Railway adventure. when I visited back in 2017 after reading the book. I had no trouble casting my mind back when me and my dad was traveling on the passenger train pulled by the Old Lady.

Well done for defeating your nerves. It's always hard to stand up and talk, whether in front of a camera or in front of people. Be confident in what you are getting across and relax. I was impossibly shy years ago, now, I stand up in front of people and say what I need to. Maybe it's an age thing, or maybe I had got a CBA attitude. But ultimately, be yourself. xxx.

I love the Talyllyn shop. The only thing it’s missing is some badges in the REV Gomm style

The booking office has changed a lot since I was volunteering at that window 25 years ago. We were using the slide across card machines to take paper copies of cards and no screen or point of sale system in sight! Great to see behind the scenes and good luck in your new role.
