It was like that in the original show as well, I don't remember all their names, but the Earth ring was from Africa, the Wind ring was from Russia, I believe the Water ring was from Thailand, The Fire Ring was from North America, and The Heart Ring, Mai Ti, I believe was from South America. Anybody can correct me if they want, it's been quite a long time since I watched the show.

They should do 2 movies where Captain Planet's home has been destroyed by overpopulation and pollution. CP has been monitoring the universe's condition and realises that he needs to do something drastic to save the universe from overpopulation and the resulting pollution and the uncontrolled use of natural resources. CP then allies with the 5 ring bearers, each containing a stone and pretending to side with them. In a turn of events, CP betrays the 5 ring bearers in an epic battle. He gathers all the rings and activates them simultaneously to transmute all humans and non-herbivores across the universe to vegetation. The remaining ring bearers who survive the transmution go into hiding to try to reverse what Captain Planet has done. Maitai becomes CP's servant and Gaia becomes CP's lover to gain his trust and one day betray him, just like what CP did when he betrayed the 5. Captain Planet then builds himself a tree fortress and a farm to commemorate accomplishing his mission. Second movie: A few years had passed. The world is a better place with little human interference as the environment recovers from human actions. One day during an environmental preservation meeting, Captain Planet transmutes the people present after fearing the people present for disloyalty and betrayal. After the battle Maitai shows up intending on finishing CP off but is then murdered by CP. The remaining humans then get even more conviction and motivation to fight against CP to reverse the universe level Transmutaion. They form the Resistance. One day CP and the Resistance were in a battle where CP then has his weakness to woodpeckers and transmutes everyone present. He then flees back to his fortress and discovers that Gaia had introduced woodpeckers to his house. CP then goes into a panic mode and tries to fend off the woodpeckers and accidentally transmuting his mate in the process. He kneels in defeat and sorrow at Gaia's betrayal as he helplessly mourns as the woodpeckers swarm him. CP turns into dust after being defeated by the woodpeckers. The rings then fall out from his gauntlet as they activates simultaneously. The Reverse Transmutation happens and the planet goes back to normal before the Transmutation. The 4 remaining ring beares mourn the loss of Maitai as the credits fade to black, with only the sound of garden shears snipping.
