Heh... that's what I thought. I was like, okay, I knew the kitchen was a studio, but let's see what's up (somehow, I didn't see this video show up until today on my feed.) Then I saw ... WTF? A RED? That's kind of overkill for this kind of thing. Then, WTF? Two REDs? How much does this KZbin pay? And then the lenses.... ? Holy shit. And then the explanation at 1:38. Okay. That makes sense now.
@seigeengine

@@peterpawinski4914 KZbin can pay reasonably well if you can consistently compel a meaningful size audience and have content you can get ads on. One of the factors here seems to be encapsulated in a line from his website where he says he only has preroll ads. I don't know if that's true, but that's definitely going to impact earnings. But obviously that setup is out of reach for any likely income from this channel regardless.

Glen and Linus collab and Glen and Townsends collabs would be amazing. The collab with Linus could be more focused on behind the scenes stuff like this (maybe upgrades to the video editing or video archival process). The collab with Townsends could be comparing an extremely old recipe cooked traditionally and redoing it modernly (or at least redoing it for depression era).

I don't usually watch cooking videos, yet this is the only cooking channel that I visit almost on a daily basis. Your videos are just pretty much enjoyable to watch, not too technical or academical or even competitional. From your videos, I see that cooking is a part of daily life, not intimidating whatsoever. Cooking -and eating- is an enjoyable adventure done in the safety of our home. Thanks!

Being able to turn your hobby into a job or profession, being actually good at it, having the patience to keep it as a hobby despite all the burnout and accumulating work stress, and having the time and resources to actually turn it into a side hustle that you can keep doing is an amazing feat on its own. It's VERY rare to have them all together, and overall I think this level of love and dedication to what you do is what we should all strive for. I also think it's a surefire way to success in life, not in the business sense, but in being able to feel accomplished. That's why I find you and your videos so inspirational. Keep up the incredible work! And to all those who have fallen out of love with their "dream job" and lost their precious hobbies, may we all se the light in ourselves reignite one day, reunite us with what we used to love.

I appreciate how you encourage your viewers to make do with what they have, and try new things, make it their own. Up till now, it never occurred to me, not for one second, that you were shooting in a studio. What an amazing setup! It looks and feels so homey and cozy, with Jules coming in at the end, so naturally, stepping in from the living room. And the fact that you do this for fun really shows, that’s what makes it so natural and real, because it is real! Love your videos, your curiosity, the way you seem to like precision AND subtlety.

I love that the studio is a shed out in your backyard. It's an awesome solution to not having to film in your house's actual kitchen or rent a full studio. Now the camera nerd in me ached the moment you mentioned what your day job is because I love cameras. I love shooting videos, photos, editing footage, the works. It's why I started making my own cooking videos. Problem is, as much as I would kill to have a job like yours, I haven't even the faintest clue how to get into the industry! If I could just spend a day with the kind of tech that you and a UK youtuber I watch, Mumbo, have at your disposal I would be in heaven... I have a Sony DSC_HX80 camera which is great for photography but the video it shoots isn't the greatest. At some point, perhaps after the holidays, I plan to look into a new tripod so I can get better angles for the shots and a dedicated 1080P video camera.

If you are interested in cameras maybe the stuff from Blackmagicdesign could be interesting for you. They have the Pocket Cinema Cameras which have an extremly good imagequality while being relativly small and handy by costs of only 1400 bucks. I work with one of my own and I have to say, its very obvious that this camera is designed for film especially. And you get their editing and colorgrading software added for free :) I don‘t get paid from them or something like that, I just really like their products and made very good experiences with it. I hope this comment is helpfull to you, have a nice day :) Greetings from Germany

Yours is my favorite KZbin cooking channel. For a long time I didn't know why, but after watching this I know why. You're a pro that does this as a sideline. You don't take it too seriously and you don't force it. I like that, and I'm sure others do too. One thing I'd like to see are guest tasters. There's you and your wife, and I believe the two of you generally do a good job. However, I'd like to taste many of the things you make myself. In lieu of that, I'd like to see third parties taste the things you make and see if they agree with you and your wife.

So impressed with the whole setup even more now with the behind the scenes look. A whole separate shed! Wow. Previously had a tiny amount of envy for that Breville ice cream maker you use, but was able to get past it thinking you have a successful main career and deserve your toys. You put in so much work and just grateful to get the knowledge you’re sharing.

Just a thought, but what about some videos where you substitute an alternative ingredient into a common recipe and see if Jules can spot the oddity? I’m thinking something like a Ritz Cracker apple pie, but she doesn’t know there are no apples...

Wow! Amazing studio and storage and film equipment and . . . . ! Thank you for the peek behind the scene of where the magic happens, Glen. We are quite fortunate that you share your recipe experiments and food knowledge with all of us. Thank YOU! (Would love to see a series on making ingredients . . . things that most people buy pre-made that would most likely be much tastier, more varied flavors options, and better for us if we made those ourselves [i.e. bacon, as you have brilliantly done; maybe crackers, brown sugar, chocolate sandwich cookies, famous maker candy bars, and the list goes on]).

Wow Glen, that is amazing. I love how organized you are. I knew it was not the kitchen in your home, by how Jules enters, but I didn't expect this. It is awesome and I love that you get to play and have fun with recipes and cooking techniques. My best to you! Keep them coming!

Just amazing, what a ride. It's fascinating to see all that equipment ready for cooking, meanwhile I don't even own a cutting board, haha.

I've enjoyed a lot of your productions and often wondered how it was done and what you do in 'real life'. Now that you have been so very open and shared all this with us I respect you even more than before. Keep on cooking and stay healthy.

Glen great video though in one way kinda sad as you broke the illusion. If you never shown me that I would of just kept on assuming it was your personal kitchen or one you had made downstairs in the basement. Linus should help his fellow Canadian out with all that RED footage you need a massive storage server if you dont already have one.

Glen I was lucky enough to stumble across your channel about a month ago and I've binged more of your videos than is healthy. I'm a cinematographer myself and was always kind of in shock at your production quality but I figured "they must have a guy for that". It's pretty awesome to find out that you are that guy. Keep up the great work I love the content and your production quality like I said is through the roof!
