Behind the Scenes Look at Sprinkles Cupcakes

In our latest video segment, we pop into Sprinkles Cupcakes to see just how they make those delicious treats that are rivaled by no one else.
Signature cupcakes include the red velvet cupcake and the black and white cupcake (which we learn how to make).
As delicious as those both were, we were partial to peanut butter banana cupcake which combines banana bread that is topped with a luscious peanut butter frosting.

Love "Sprinkles". The black and white one is my fave but I had the Banana one a few days ago and it's now my second fave. Delicious. They need to wear gloves though and it has nothing to do with Covid for me. Never liked people handling my food with their bare hands. Not sanitary.

JUST SO IT IS KNOWN #NOgloves: I was a GM at Sprinkles for over 6years... in that time my production team NEVER EVER EEEEVVVVER EVVVAA EVA EVA: WORE GLOVES. Production Team is in charge of: prep, producing batter and frosting, Mashing your fruits, getting the batter off the paddles (YUM!), pouring said batter into the containers for the fridge or shelf, scraping the metal mixer with a hand spatula NO GLOVES. Also, they were on the verge of bankruptcy, lied to you all about being "all natural" for a long time and changed our baking scoops to be smaller while also raising the price . F- this place. Before you @ me about why I didn't provide gloves... A) they were not approved for my budget when i found long arm disposable gloves; B) They simply don't care.. you press too hard and it is felt by corporate.

Wow that's definitely shocking! I've only been to Sprinkles twice (in NYC) and the ice cream ppl were wearing gloves but can't remember if it was the case in the cupcake store. I'm really hoping the glove issue is a one-store issue and doesn't extend to all of them... Also, I've once heard Candace say Sprinkles uses different sized baking scoops depending on the type of batter being scooped, is that maybe what you're referring to?

@@s.cheddadi2283 I have met Candace, her husband and both of his parents. They are all LOVELY people. As a GM.. I deployed the use of a 12 scoop, 10 and 20 (ordered biggest to smallest) ..viscosity and bake times were the reason for scoop variations. Carrot being thick and nutty as a batter used a bigger 10 scoop.. but black velvet had a batter like squid ink... and I would use a 12 scoop... red velvet chocolate and vanilla and All standard flavors use the 20 scoop. What I am referring to is corporate coming into our kitchens and training us on new 20 and 16 scoops.. getting rid of the prior scoops altogether. Bummer. I was so sad to get my team behind the lie initiative. I have waited to speak publicly bc I signed a 12 month post term nondisclosure. That ended a couple months ago. All kitchens didnt wear gloves. It is a factual truth... maybe they've changed that since covid. They are a clean company overall.. like spotless. But.. nope.. no one wears gloves in production. Bakers and frosters, yes. Production, no.

Monique Croft that’s so disappointing... but I really appreciate your transparency about all of it. This is usually the type of details that ppl would’ve otherwise never known, so thank you! :) I’m not saying I don’t like Sprinkles anymore, not at all, I’m sure every great place/company has its own little dirt that can be dug up, but it’s definitely good to be aware of details like this. It helps getting the full picture of who you’re buying from! P.S: Im really glad that Candace and her husband are as lovely as they seem to be! They look adorable! 💕

News flash! Most bakeries and kitchens do not use globes during production because there is no need, the only reason you should wear gloves is if you're touching ready to eat food that's why frosters and bakers are required to wear them.
