Ya, seeing you guys talk about this race so glowingly and enthusiastically is cringe, especially after that unwatchable disaster of a first race. There is no way that you guys aren't being compensated for these videos, or you are contractually obligated to due to some agreement.

Formula student teams have been making fast autonomous racecars for years now, the fact that some of these A2RL teams cant even complete a lap is quite embarrassing.

dont formula student race courses have little cones with reflective parts making it much easier to detect compared to a normal curcuit?

Even worse than I expected. Props to the commentators who managed to make this sound vaguely exciting.

It's undercooked is what it is. When it comes to a public spectacle like motorsports, first impressions are a big deal - that doesn't exactly mesh well with a scientific iterative process. So you can't afford to rush things. Putting a half-baked product out there with all of these technical glitches just leaves the whole endeavor looking a bit ridiculous to the viewing public. That's not going to help the perception of autonomous racing going forward.

I still cant believe they gave AI better cars than F1 academy. I love the idea, but why dont they swap cars?
@Fpvpilot9288 ай бұрын
One chassis costs about 10 times the other chassis. Another factor is you want a progression of speed through the ranks, putting new drivers straight into super formula cars would be a recipe for an expensive disaster. And yes, the autonomous race was an expensive disaster, but the costs were covered entirely by the Emirates.

Is the Code 19 team name meant to be a play on words of COVID 19? Interesting choice if so… Frankly I’ll take anything better than Roborace when it comes to autonomous racing series: No irrelevant cartoon CGI “Metaverse” obstacles, and no long cutaways of engineers eating pizza. So glad to see A2RL has at least been marketed coherently and that they’re not afraid to have things go wrong. We’ll see what becomes of it; easy to mock but you can’t deny the road relevancy.

How much are they paying to get praised here? The series is a giant meme and nobody takes it serious
