Amazon recently did the unthinkable. It invited us - what with our unblinking cameras and endless questions - for a peek inside its newest logistical lair in Lakeland, Florida. MORE: www.fox13news.com/consumer/541...

I wouldn't call it all propaganda. Amazon will let you come visit their facilities and see it for yourself. Yes, the employees are busy at work the whole time but at the same time there is nothing nefarious taking place and there is nothing illegal about having to do hard , fast-paced labor. A perspective employee surely must know what they are in for before they sign up. They can readily see for themselves that it's going to be intensive fast-paced non-stop work. If that's not your game, then look elsewhere. And the woman in this video is correct, a machine will tell you what to do and how fast to do it. You're spared the burden of having to think. And if you aren't stepping and fetching fast enough, a red light will come on and a countdown timer will appear on your computer screen letting you know to pick up the pace. The point I'm trying to make is that you can see all of this on a tour, go see for yourself.

It's hard on the body for the pickers for sure. I was sore all week my first week. My feet bled and my back went out but because I wasn't there for 23 days I didn't get work comp or medical help. Now that it's been over 3 months I still haven't gotten anything. Everything seems to be run outside the warehouse and online or over a phone call. Feels like skynet a little bit. My paychecks were under 200 bucks a week. Not very much but it paid for gas. The pay is 11.75 for seasonal and you get 50 cents more every 6 months. While working youre basically standing or doing squats for the full 10 hour shift minus 30 minute lunch and two 15 minute breaks. My take is it's definitely slave work but they hire anyone who isn't on drugs or have a criminal record so stay in school and only work here if you're out of options

Took a huge pay cut, the hours were longer, and the work was insane. The thing I hated the most were the managers and the horrible work environment Amazon has. thankfully I was able to get another job at a different tech company with a much bigger pay and no back breaking work, and it actually uses my degree. It's also full time, so I don't need to worry about a contract ending. Thankfully the experience I had from my previous tech job helped me land my current one, along with internships I took in college. I strongly advise people to stay in school, I know its a pain, but that degree will be worth it. Unless you majored in something useless, like lesbian dance theory.

I got a job at an Amazon factory through the Flog-em Squeeze-em & Bin-em recruitment agency. The work is very hard but the pay is low so there is balance there if you're seeking a challenge with static career prospects.

Packages would leave fulfilment centers and come to us in our building for oregon. Where the boxs get damaged before we would ship them out and we would replace the damage boxes with new ones and retag them. But they were not always replaced I loaded trailers and always saw dambaged boxes scanned to be shipped

This is where all the things that get delivered to your come from and how it happens, but then we have things like how each of those items get delivered to the warehouse and even before that, how each of those items are built and even before that is how each of the pieces materials are made from scratch

Tough job. Mad respect for anyone Amazonian who works at a fulfillment center. It is far from easy if you are a picker like me. 7 second tact time is insane, and I managed a record 5.94 just once and I was extremely lucky because of the quantity picks I had from the pods that came. I'm between 7-9 otherwise, and that is if the dang stations aren't breaking down. Great pay, tough hours, lots of ways to build yourself up and most management will work with you and listen. Oh, the place is 1/3 of a mile in diameter. That is not a lie. It is freaking huge. 1 million square feet, 10 football fields, etc. And it is 4 working stories, with the fifth being engineering, blah blah.

Where's the interviews from the stowers, pickers, counters, and all the other human beings that fulfill all those orders. Damn those robots they don't do most of the work, and I have seen them crash and run over things. I don't know what people expect from an entry level job but $11/hr FT with no experience is good. Yes the walking, climbing stairs, short breaks (30 min lunches for a 10 hr day in ridiculous), bending, mandatory overtime, back breaking labor sucks BUT the benefits are wonderful and affordable. OT is voluntary if you need extra money. Its hot but pretty clean for a warehouse....well at least mine. Its not all bad but yes theres alot of BS to put up with. Especially with favoritism and uppity managers. Once I'm finished with school (that amazon is paying 95% of upfront) I'M OUT!

FYI $11. dollars an hour is horrible pay when Jeff Bezos has a net worth of $160 billion. Slave mentality if you think $11. an hour is good. Jeff makes about $107 million per day.

As an employee Who is cross trained at amazon (stow, divert, unload, recieve) I love coming into work and seeing what position I get put in. My 10 hour shifts are voluntary I can choose to take VTO and if I want more over time I can ask. There is a lot of favoritism in warehouses towards the ones who have been there longer but once you been there for some time and get to know people you start to love coming in. My schedule may be a little different with working only 4 days and my breaks are 20minutes with 30minutes lunch could be because of the virus

Why I would waste my time and brain power at university when my monetary reward at work is the same as anybody with no education. Ridiculous.

Lately I have noticed some package poorly boxed . Basically all are in amazon boxes loose with no other packing ;so that they slam back and forth when handled by shipping company. This is worse than just factory packaging for many items. My guess is with labor shortage they are getting worse personell because they seem to be from same warehouses.

Eh, I work at Amazon, and my job is pretty good for a warehouse job, other warehouse jobs I've had sucked way more and paid way less. There's a lot they do right. However, I don't work at one of these huge (and probably hellish) "fulfillment centers," I work at a smaller warehouse that's like the next step in the supply chain. Basically, truckloads of boxes pull up and we sort them into delivery vans. I think if they let people listen to music the job would be a lot better.
