The affection they have when talking about the little world they created...it honestly sounds so parental. These are their children. When she's talking about Norman's bag it's like how a mum points out their child's fav things 'he's wearing his favourite jeans and his favourite hoodie' you can hear the restrained smile.

Each Behind the Scenes video makes me love LAIKA even more wow. The attention to detail and the way everyone talks about the making of the puppets (plus the way the Costume Design Supervisor talked about Norman and his clothes) shows how your characters and worlds are never flat and how much you love them. Its really inspiring tbh

They are underrated since their artistry are mostly overshadowed by the fact their early movies terrified kids growing up in the 2010s. Coraline for example, it's their best known work since a lot of kids born in the between the mid and late 2000s were traumatized from watching the movie, same goes with Paranorman and Boxtrolls.

Growing up watching stop motion animation gave me a love for the craft. Seeing Kubo and the Two Strings in the cinema was a true experience seeing the craftmanship unfold on the big screen was magical. Thank you Laika for giving the world beautiful hand crafted animation (even if the world doesn't see them in the cinema).

“ParaNorman” will always be in my list of Ultimate Favorite Films. Neil will always be in my list of Favorite Characters. I’ll fondly remember visiting the ParaNorman exhibit at the Cartoon Art Museum for my 25th birthday, and meeting Mark Shapiro at the Walt Disney Family Museum and allowing me to hold a Norman puppet. Seeing these behind the scenes always blow my mind. I’m torn between two part of myself, the one who would love to learn how remodel dolls and create stop-motion animation... and the other who would not have the patience to accomplish any of it. I guess the only way to find out is to try. Hopefully continuing watching these videos will be the encouragement I need to do it someday.

parisly there should be more focus on HOODIES in this movie,so many HOODIES!
The fact that Laika has ACTUAL physical limits for building their characters and yet they STILL work their asses off to create unique diverse characters is really great, as much as I love Disney they could really learn something from Laika that’s not to say Disney doesn’t make diverse characters but they’ve HAVE been reusing the same character model a lot lately. (Moana being the exception of course.)
