Paranorman is still, to this day, my favorite Laika film and in my ultimate top 5 favorite films of all time. It’s so underrated and deserves more credit. Seeing this old behind-the-scenes video being posted over 5 years later really makes me happy that it’s still remembered and getting some love.

Pixar and Disney don’t usually do that (they usually have the character designs down pat before storyboarding, which comes before voice acting) and Dreamworks, Illumination, Sony, and some others only do it because they are hacks who make movies to make money, not as a form of creativity, or thematic meaning (some specific movies withstanding, as they were actually made by people wanting to make art). I know I’m being a bit dramatic, but I seriously implore you to LOOK THINGS UP before definitively saying a thing like that.

I think for me, the most fascinating scene in recent film is Norman's Walk. The part where he walks to school and greets all the ghost. The music and dialog goes together so well. I wish to one day write for this studio...

Coraline performed better than Paranorman. If Coraline spent pennies on advertisements, then there is a good chance that that movie turned up a profit. Can't say the same to Paranorman, sadly...
