He had to wear them since the Head Injury against Reading in 2006. After the boot of Stephen Hunt went through his skull, it also knocked his brain which is where fears of his death would come. Fortunately, he was able to survive and serve us another 9 years at Chelsea winning two more Premier League titles, a Champions League, Europa Cup and domestic cups before moving for Arsenal last year.
