From what I can gather, David took her under his wing right from the beginning of Labyrinth, you can really see they both cherished one another's company, the chemistry was perfect. Nobody, I repeat, nobody, could have portrayed Sarah and Jareth other than Jennifer and David.

Gates McFadden is indeed VERY awesome! She choreographed Labyrinth (including the mystical ballroom scene), played Dr Beverly Crusher in Star Trek: The Next Generation and directed the Star Trek TNG episode "Genesis" - a masterpiece! Her twitter sometimes has some funny stuff on there and she did a series of videos a while ago about teaching her cat how to make her coffee!

@kittystar23: Since she auditioned in late January, was cast and moved to England in February, and started filming in April, I have to believe that she didn't "grow up" a lot during the two-month period between her audition and the start of filming. I would think that professionally-applied movie make-up would have created the effect you're seeing.

This is an amazing video! Very surprised this is not on any of the Extras footage for the Labyrinth DVDs (at least not my knowledge.) I know that Jim and the others referred to how wonderful she was in auditions in the Behind the Scenes Featurette! I'm so glad we finally get to see this part of history. True towards the end of the movie, it could be seen as Sarah's imagination BUT that's the beauty of fantasy and the movie being so open-ended. At the end where Sarah is saying goodbye to her friends, along with the party in her room, there's the question of...what if. What if it wasn't her imagination? What if she decides to go back if one of her friends needed her? What if the Goblin King, who we thought vanquished, decides to play another game with her where she would have to go back?

I know she was heavily involved behind the scenes in the film, she even did some assistant directing with the goblins and crowds, which is why i thought this vocie reading in was her too. I can't believe I am just first seeing this, now. Labyrinth is my favorite movie, and I own 3 versions on DVD, as well as the Blu-Ray. Why was this never included as a bonus feature? It only makes me wonder what other unreleased gems and nuggets are out there. I'd still like to see the 3 hour cut that the makers of Mirrormask got to see. Clearly there was cut dialogue even in this clip. Cool stuff!
