A small look behind the scenes of a channel this size. I was inspired to make this video after seeing a newer channel go on a rant about not getting to 1000 subscribers quick enough. It’s a long journey! If you choose a niche subject like small bikes you better be patient. Good things take time.

Cheers mate! I see a lot of people going into channels these days expecting money - where as I feel it’s just a small bonus later on if you’re lucky.

Your CT125 video helped sell at least one CT125 as well. I’m sure Honda will be sending your cut any day now 😅

Haha I’ve had about 10 people directly let me know they bought one because of the video. At the time it was a gamble by the dealer that flew me down. There was no guarantee it would get views and Honda themselves didn’t bankroll it. So a huge thanks to them at the time. But they’ve since dropped Honda and been bought out and renamed so it’s not even a positive return for them these days.

To me, it seems like your channel has two kinds of content, obviously small bike reviews, but there's a travel side to it as well. As much as I love your channel, I've always heard that mixed content channels suffer via algorithm video reccomendations. If you ever do another analytics video, interested to hear your thoughts on having a mixed channel and if you think the algorithm is being fair towards you.

Very fair comment. The travel videos are a bit few and far between at the moment. They do tend to get better views but they also take a lot more time, effort and $$$ to film. I do categorise them at the point of upload as a ‘travel video’ by category whereas most of the others are uploaded as ‘automotive’. I think suffering from the algorithm is somewhat true but that more comes from retention rates. If I have a long form video and lots of people watch it then those people will get shown other videos of mine that aren’t necessarily long form and they might click out straight away. I could go on for hours but yeah, it is interesting to see how it all works. I did start a second channel for anything and everything in 2022 but I couldn’t run both at once. Small bike stuff took a big hit then and it took 6 months of weekly uploading to get my viewership back so I’ll just keep plodding a long for now and see how we go!
