Too much time away from the camera has the bad habit of sending the message that the person involved is a one hit wonder. The public has a very short memory AND those in the business of making decisions can also be affected when all they see are fashion, commercials and red carpet appearances. Already he has slipped from top spot in consideration for Bond. What does someone in his position do? Maybe something serious like fundraising for a good cause. A trip abroad to visit his homeland with camera in hand. Sign on to be a UN ambassador. Something to suggest he's not just in it for the money and is not only a serious person but a serious actor.
