To me, this is the best score ever made for a character. Dark Knight trilogy is close but I think I prefer the MoS one. Thank you for the video ! 😊

Hi, Ashton! I really appreciate your work. The level of realism you are capable of achieving within your mockups is really outstanding! I would like to ask you which are the main libraries you use on a regular basis, and which ones do you recommmend for this kind of work. Thanks!
@AshtonGleckman7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It's pretty hard to say. I take stuff from different things and combine them to get certain sounds. I usually never use only one library for a section. Man of Steel was a combo of lots of things. Strings were mostly CineStrings because they have quite a big sound. Brass was mainly CineBrass and Berlin Brass, CB for the big/epic, and Berlin Brass for the more chordal brass. For that Junkie XL / HZ sound deffinetely go for Strikeforce. This was a combo of that, Damage, and HZ Perc Vol. 1.

I love this series. Ashton, do you think Batman v Superman would be great for making a new episode? There's a lot of connection to this soundtrack and there's also a lot of new elements like Lex's theme and Wonder Woman sounds. Please make more episodes exploring James Horner's scores.

As always great remake Ashton! Dude, I don't know a better person to request this from - could you perhaps look at making a tutorial regarding how best to use dynamics and expression for orchestra i.e when to use them, starting and ending settings. I mean do you start at zero dynamics and end with zero dynamics? Cheers bud! Brian

Great video Ashton. Curious why you don't like 8Dio Majestica other than the one patch you mentioned? It is a pretty bold library. It is too bold for your taste? I'm discovering that I like it better the more I use it. Also I like that you mention what libraries you are using when you talk about the sections. It helps offer some insight to us composers who may have some of these tools. Thanks!
@AshtonGleckman7 жыл бұрын
Majestica for me ends up getting just too big and muddy. I find the shorts are the only thing I really like using. It's just a taste thing, but I'd much rather build up my own sections. Also, I discuss all the samples in the technical overview portion (40:30).
@millsmixx50807 жыл бұрын
Cool thanks. I see you use also Lacromosa which to me seems as big as Majestica for Choirs. Any issues with that one for your arrangements? I was thinking abut getting it since I have Majestica.

Do you prefer not having a set template while working? Also, do you use SSDs? Great work Ashton!
@AshtonGleckman7 жыл бұрын
Debesh Chattopadhyay I just use a Seagate 4TB drive for all my samples. It isn’t the fastest, but it’s quite speedy and works great for me! My template is usually 10 empty instrument tracks for each section (strings, winds, brass, percussion, pianos, synths, choir). Then I load as I go. If I’m working on a project, I’ll usually design a custom template for that project that includes a few pre loaded patches, but I love loading as I go, keeps my creativity up!

Ashton Gleckman interesting. Most of the “pros” complain about guitar rig. I also use it, but I struggle getting it to mix well with big orchestrations. Are you using a specific preset, or did you build this one?

I like your channel! Are you getting the orchestral scores online or figuring out everything by ear?!!!? I would love to see The Bruce Lee Story done on your channel Ashton! Also, depending on your theory/song analysis level - probably better than mine - why not list the progressions in the "show more" area per track listing for these scores!!? Like : I iii IV vi6 iib5b7 etc... It would be indispensable or at least a huge time saver for upcoming-composers to hear an example of cadence or movement in a track and refer to it.... much the same way, composition books illustrate interval to famous songs that also use them, but in a much more practical and meaningful way. First or Second Inversions can be denotes (1inv) or (2inv) to the right of the roman numeral.... the roman numerals will also let saavy musicians/composers know that there is modal interchange going on - as in: ii7 V7 V/V7 ;)

Hi Ashton, superb work as always. I made an analysis of this soundtrack in 3 videos (almost 2 hours) analyzing theme by theme over the scenes to explain how they build meaning along the movie and connect different parts of the movie. It will be a great pleasure if you watch it and let me know if you like it. I'm in Spain but it will great to cooperate with you in some future thing. Keep in touch!
