Economic solution is the most potent solution for the security of the Phils. Sure, support from the US and other allies are equally important, but that would also entail being buried in high interest loans and current political constraints. If the Phils can afford, the Gov't doesn't have to beg, accept hand me downs or be subjected to high interest loans. The resources are there and as history keeps on repeating, don't leave this to the politicians. Bid projects to reputable corporations to operate them profitably with national security as the centerpiece.

If you look around at places in Africa (Nigeria if I am not mistaken) where France sources its Uranium to power its nuclear power plants, the majority of the people live in or below the poverty line. My point is, dont get your hopes up that because of the riches of the WPS will make the countey rich. Those riches will only be exploited mostly by Western Powers through their corporations. The only Filipinos who will get rich are the Oligarchy class who serve as puppets for Western powers seeking to plunder the natural resources of the nation. One more example is Ukraine. Most of the land, at least in the Western part are already bought or in the process of being sold to giant US corporations such as Black Rock and Monsanto. The confirmed presence of rich natural resources of a nation will only invite the vultures and the blood suckers to pillage and rape the nation.

Japan is not rich in terms of natural resources but a rich country because of low corruption rate. Japanese invests in their manpower, innovates, has a strong service industry, is a highly industrialised nation and a manufacturing giant. Nordic/ Scandinavian countries are also poor in natural resources but very rich in terms of GDP per capita and among the happiest nations. Government services are of high quality (no politics involved)- free healthcare to all, highly educated citizen, low corruption rate, low violence or crime incidence, high income, good human development index score, efficient and consistent system, good transportation system , and even use their own language as official language in the government, not English, but still developed. Meanwhile, in the Philippines, corruption is rampant. Backer system is everywhere in the government. Thus, the selective process is not designed to put the best people in the government position but it is based on the people you know. This might create a culture of mediocrity - not bothering to improve the system. Poor, inefficient, inconsistent system and some are unregulated. Justice system is selective. Some government services are only prioritised for VIP. Transportation system is not developed. Power and water shortage. Research and development and IT services are not integrated in the workplace. Dirty politics( vote buying) and political dynasty are rampant which hinder the nation to improve.
