This was great explanation but at 5.16 according to my information from book, the pulmonary vein and vena cava don't have valves as heart only has 4valves..can u plz confirm this ?

Vena cava has valves. Pulmonary vein does not (it is an exception).. Completely forgot that! Thanks for pointing it out

@@behlogy this is a bit confusing since the textbook diagrams show that the pulmonary vein does have a semilunar valve (closes during atrial systole and opens during diastole and ventricular systole)

Why in atrial systole valves in pulmonary veins and vena cava are closed?

Bcs when the atrium is contracting the pressure is higher than in the veins, causing in the valves to close. If not, blood will backflow...

practice past papers. quality > quantity. read and pay attention to details....repeat. it should stick your brain after a while.

try to connect the studies in a fun way so you can remember, example i use diastole to remember relax as "die" you finally relax (sorry if this is too dark heh)

Easier way to remember when the valves close is to learn “COCO”.. C is for close and O is for open. Above the graph represents the semilunar valves and below represents AV valves. ( for graph only )
