The Behringer 182 Sequencer is pretty good . With 2 CV outs & Gate & trigger controls. The gate control works well with Behringer Brains . Pity not all Behringer Modules had Gate inputs. I later purchased the Behringer Sequential controller & the Sequential Switch as a 2nd Sequencer. Greets. BTW your video on this has been most helpfull

Thanks man. You may also be interested in the GP82 module which expands the 182 Sequencer enabling it to do some cool things like ratcheting :) There's a video on my channel about it :)

@@ranzee Ahh as mentiion i did buy the Sequential Switch 962 which does expand among other things . Greets 😀 BTW Did look at the Maikshift Modular GP82. Look cool. How old is the module ? I looked on google but only found KZbin videos not even one for sale

👏👏👏Very nice and thorough guide, Ranz. If I may just add one thing that might confuse new users of the 182: - Note that the Gate Time knob becomes ineffective when the 182 is externally clocked (just as it did with the original 182 unit it is emulating). As a 'lechy-techy' I completely understand why it can't work the same as when using the internal clock generator, this may confuse and confound some users (or worse, cause them to send it back!). 🙀 Keep steppin on, brothers ! 👍

indeed - but I feel it was a deliberate design by Roland originally.

Only thing with this is no 'Reset'. I bought it before my Barp 2500 - 1027 Sequencer, and mainly use it for modulation now. Also, I did not know about alternate step counts using it in series, thank you for enlightening me, I'll utilise that a bit more me thinks. 🙂👍
@ranzee9 ай бұрын
Indeed. The alternatives section mentions the Metropolis, which I personally recommend. It gives you the 182 style of sequencing - but with more modern features. Worth the extra coin.

I bought the 182 as a secondary (technically third because I have a keystep pro) to use here and there along with the arp 2500 sequencer. This video encouraged me to experiment a little bit more with it and see, if I understood your breakdown correctly, what sort of polyrhythms I can get out of it. Thanks for sharing, new sub!
@ranzee9 ай бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the sub! You can set the step length in Parallel from 1 through to 8 steps with 2 separate channel outputs. In Series you can set the step length from 9 through to 16 - but on top of this you get a varied output in CV OUT 1 and CV OUT 2. The polyrhythms would only occur if you had something else sequenced with a different step signature - like 8 or 16 steps - and then you setup the 182 to do something cool like 3 steps - which means that it would tie in every 12 steps. Play around with this - 7 steps does some funky things :) Also don't forget there's a new companion module named GP82 by Maikshift Modular - this will give you more gate and ratchet options :)

I'm on the fence about this one. I have a full 6U Rackbrute filled with Behringer100m modules being sequenced by a Minibrute 2S... other than being a completist, or using it control CV... I have one 16HP space left!
@ranzee8 ай бұрын
The Minibrute 2S is always something I've wanted. How do you find it's features?
@theedxqboi7 ай бұрын
It's a real good monosynth. The Steiner filler is the best version Arturia has put out, my Matrixbrute sounds almost metallic, and the Brute setting on the MB2S is useful and musical. I just bought my Behringer 182 sequencer and it'll come on Monday. The MB2S lacks a keyboard per se, but I use a MIDI keyboard for "playing."
@xpump8769 ай бұрын
This is a great sequencer for the $ except the "No Reset" is a huge crappy con -(.. unless this the one and only sequencer you use). W/O a reset it does not play with others. I considered digging into the circuit and finding a way to add a reset function (..as I once did with a ehx 8-step pedal ) but I have lots of other sequencers and little time. It's a small form factor for a 2 voice 8 step seq so perhaps one day I might still add a reset.
@ranzee9 ай бұрын
Yeah it does annoy me as well - it means you're more hand-on with it. However, they recreated old 1970s tech here from Roland. Let me know if you discover a reset mod in the circuit - I'd be really interested!!

Hi, cool video, Q though, can you hold the steps on (drone) so you can tune the steps? Thanks Tim. subbed. :)
@ranzee2 ай бұрын
Hi Tim - you can "hold" a step by putting the sequencer into single mode. You can also tune each step - but that is done on your oscillator in conjunction with the v/Oct pot of the steps. If you are referring to a HOLD similar to the Roland TB-303 - it won't work the same way. There's also a great companion module by Maikshift Modular called the GP82 which adds extra functionality to the sequencer and is relatively inexpensive addon. Alternatively, you could look at the Intellijel Metropolix which is based on the 185 sequencer (a more advanced version of the 182).
@HopelessEchoes2 ай бұрын
hi there, nice video thanks - I just picked up one of these last week, for some reason they had them on sale real cheap in the UK so figured why not. its a fun little module, but one weird thing is that step 1 is actually step 2 when you run the sequencer.... unless you set it to 1 step in parallel mode, in which case step 1 is step 1! is that how the original worked too?
@lyntonfairbourne74085 ай бұрын
Hi Ranzee, as a newbie to modular I've just introduced the 182 to my modest eurorack setup but I've not found a way to 'skip' steps on this sequencer. Is this something the unit can't do or am I missing something obvious. Thanks Tony.
@ranzee5 ай бұрын
Hey! Congrats! The 182 doesn't have a skip step option. You'd need to look at the Behringer 960 - or a Metropolis/Metropolix from Intellijel.
@lyntonfairbourne74085 ай бұрын
@@ranzee Hi and thanks for your reply, the 960 looks like my best option atm.
