Behringer 2600 Sine/Triangle "PWM" Trick

Showing how you can use output to output patching to get some PWM (pulse width modulation) type sounds from the Triangle and Sine waveforms on the 2600. Like most of my tricks this probably works on the Korg, Antonus, and ARP 2600 as well although I have no way to verify this.

In this video I use the +10V to modulate the rising portion of the waveform but if you use the -10V instead you can affect the falling portion of the waveform. It's a subtle difference though.

So many possibilities with the array of patch points on the 2600, and as you show, even more when you feed outputs into outputs. Is there possibly even a way to do a wavefold, or similar effect? (making it similar sounding to the west pest)?

I don't know the extent of what's possible on the 2600. I doubt that wavefolding is something you can patch up with feedback or other tricks but I'm not sure. Luckily the West Pest isn't too expensive so adding a wavefolder to the 2600 is relatively easy.

In the original ARP 2600 manual there are patches that use these output to output patching techniques. On the ARP 2500 making these connections was somewhat unavoidable because of how the slider matrix worked. At some point it was suggested that patching outputs to outputs could damage your synth so people stopped doing it. I've never personally heard of anyone damaging any module with these techniques so I use them freely.
