I hunk you did a great job on featuring the different tones on tap with it. With fuzzes I’m ALWAYS wanting demos to let me hear what adjusting guitar vol can do, how it reacts. To a large extent also OD pedals. Decades ago after struggling I learned how with the right guitar wiring, the guitar vol can get you right where you want, and also not lose much if any volume. Nice job! I own a whole bunch of fuzzes already boutique, and other, and I put in my order today. Definitely a no brained for me, I want it!

I'm not sure I have the same read on the boutique fuzz market as you. There are loads of high end fuzzes out there that aren't doing anything modern. Yes it's true there are people pushing more modern takes too but there is a huge chunk of the market by far the biggest chunk) that is purely vintage inspired. And I honestly can't think who wouldn't love this pedal. It's great fun.
@PBOD6 сағат бұрын
Hi Matt, merry Xmas. You’re 100% correct that a lot of people are making vintage style fuzzes :) Budge is considering that the more progressive companies who still strive for accurate vintage tone are adding things to make their pedals easier to live with. A few noteworthy brands who do this are, Thorpy, Tate FX, & Benson. Tate, includes an analog single coil simulator which makes the Raise the Dead sound great even with Humbuckers. Benson have a cooling system which prevents germanium components from crapping the bed in hot environments. These types of approaches have become increasingly more popular over the past 5-10 years.

It is an intriguing thought you have that you can get sounds out of this pedal using your guitar volume that you can't get out of this pedal using the pedal volume (but unfortunately, they actually act exactly the same ;))

It depends where the volume pot sits in the circuit as the guitar volume will only ever adjust the input signal. It's a great feature of most vintage fuzz pedals 👍

does the fuzz Bender pair up with a blues driver & reverse reverb to create some of those my bloody valentine shoegaze sounds?

@abelramirez73203 сағат бұрын
Putting those after in the chain should be fine. I love the sound of a reverse reverb before a Big Muff or Rat for shoegaze, but I don't think the fuzz bender will play nice with anything going before it in the chain.

"I would much rather drop 60 quid on realizing that than having to pay the premium for vintage gear and finding out the exact same" - nah, people will buy that, and if they don't like the sound, they will try 10 times more expensive boutique pedals "because there is NO WAY that Behringer for 60$ have the same as boutique!". Anyway, I'm not hyped, because I can build that myself. But if they will be used in good price...
@PBOD22 сағат бұрын
A lot of what you’re paying for with these is the way it looks. As you say, anyone can build a simple fuzz, especially the older ones. People still buy a lot of fuzzes

I don't gig or record anymore...I had my fun, though... But if I wanted to get an audience's attention in a big way (who doesn't?) , then I'd slam my guitar into one of those classic nasty fuzz or overdrive sounds that'd sterilize small mammals if they got too close to the venue. Recognizable, nostalgic, or new and radical, depending on whose ears was being assaulted at the moment. A Tone Bender type pedal was one of the quicker ways to achieve this. I preffered the Mk 2 or Mk 1...but a 1.5 was fine too, if not more common ala' the fuzz face connection. I just wish they had more traditional trannies that I might swap out with germanium ones for more unpredictable antics. ... I'm still getting one of these beasts though. Who knows what could happen?

So my take on this... The enclosure is a proper custom cast enclosure, rather than a pressed or generic one. Switches, pots etc all very good. Internal build quality looks high. And of course it sounds great (I have a number of high end fuzzes).

It will be a gateway drug for a lot of people who will go on to buy the nicer stuff, on its own it sounds decent enough and looks the part. But let’s be real, if it just came in a boring looking modern/small pedal enclosure there wouldn’t be nearly as much chatter about it.
