Would you patch between the K-2 and any Eurorack module to show if the patchbay is compatible? I realize the pitch is using a different standard but what about the other functions? Thanks.
@eternalvoid26785 жыл бұрын
It's s-trig, so you'll have to invert any gates. The voltage ranges of the modulation are also not the eurorack standard, so you'd need some scaling. Other than that it's 3U, there's nothing "eurorack" about this thing.
@TimeScribe5 жыл бұрын
Eternal Void Thanks for explaining. Why would you need to scale? Couldn't you just input the cv and let the difference between the standards act as a sort of random? If you compared the a sine lfo from both synths is it just the signal strength that is different or would the shapes of the sine wave be affected by the different standards?
@0Fdigital5 жыл бұрын
@@TimeScribe You'd need to attenuate, because it'd clip otherwise. A 10v peak-to-peak sine wave into the 5v p-p inputs would make it almost a square wave. It's a shame Behringer didn't make a slight adjustment so it could be properly eurorack compatible, but I guess that's what the Neutron is for, maybe?
@eternalvoid26785 жыл бұрын
@@TimeScribe The other way around is also a problem, as the triangle lfo is -2.5 to 2.5 V, and the square 0 to 5 V, so if you use that as modulation for eurorack stuff, you wouldn't get the full range. The external signal in is also 3Vpp max, meaning that a eurorack level signal would clip massively. I wouldn't be surprised if the VCA and sample and hold (which is track and hold btw) would also clip when using eurorack level signals. The only thing eurorack compatible is panel. I really don't understand how they justify marketing this as a eurorack synth. It really isn't.

For a beginner I’d definitely go with the Pro-1. It’s got all the basic functions well laid out and then when you want to go deeper the mod section can open all sorts of fun. I’d say you would graduate from the pro-1 to a MS20 in programming terms at least.

The “workflow” is different from what it was on my sister’s Juno 6 and TBH, I probably understand the Model D workflow better. @lucasc56225 жыл бұрын
If we're all being completely honest, it probably sounds much the same, when you record a synth, you instantly lose the analogue-ness of the sound. But nothing beats having a set of dedicated (real life) control knobs, not just some buttons on an iPad. Being able to change a patch so quickly and with real tactility adds a whole new world to making sounds. A K2 is probably cheaper than most iPads anyway!
@AdamsBrew785 жыл бұрын
@@lucasc5622 It really depends - most music fans won’t be able to tell a difference between analog and digital in a mix, especially with the type of consumer speakers/headphones they listen on. Nothing in the recording process makes the differences entirely vanish though - here’s an example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoKwYpJ-pt5nrdU 3 identical mixes - 2 with minimoog VSTs (among best Model D emulations in business, Synapse The Legend and Arturia MiniV) and one with original Minimoog. I somewhat surprised myself, so quickly picking the one analog mix just with iPad speakers. You can tell there’s no aliasing, especially on the filter sweeps. Far more organic/infinite another even more clear example would be found on Deadmau5’s masterclass, where he compares digital vs analog - the silky smoothness of analog definitely comes across if you have an ear for it and you’re actively focusing on where the difference is most noticeable. (OSC/filter sweeps, etc) That said, VSTs have improved so much in the last 10-20 years and are getting better all the time; There’s nothing wrong with relying solely on them, even for mainstream production work. I’m definitely no analog snob :)

I agree that the MS20 mini feels cheaply built and doesn't exactly inspire confidence that things won't fall off in your hand. I'd be surprised though if the BehRinger clone was any better built.

@@StarskyCarr Have you figured a way to KB reset the Lfo?

@@ekoboydj No - I don't think it's possible There's no reset patch point, I think the LFOs are free running.

@@StarskyCarr perhaps there was a workaround with the clock patchpoint and the EG. but indeed dont think its doable

i may have found something. patch kbd cvout to clock, vca out to vco Freq, vca in to mod gen and turn full clockwise the release time of EG1

I trust Starsky! However behringer does give me strange trepidation 🤣 Is it ok to say it feels like a little example of Trump's battle with China's market monopoly thingy🤔 Am I totally off on that? Like what's up with $25 pedals!

Can the esp process CV? Could you send the lfo through it to boost its speed?

@@ElectronicazMusic No, it has an amp, LP, HP, frequency to CV converter, envelope follower and trigger. There's nothing that could speed up the LFO.
