Well done man! I was thinking buying a Behringer MS5 or a Yamaha Reface CS but this one seems to be very interesting too. "Unfortunately" for me.... What do you think about? Thank you!!!

The MS-1 is a bargain and it sounds distinctive. At the moment the mk1’s are on sale at Andersons for £149. Now that’s a steal.

A great little taster look into this synth. :)

Thanks. Bit of a steal.

Hi, does anyone know if the MS-1 can be used simply plugged straight into an amp/speaker (which I can with my old Yamaha CS1X)? Thanks

Yes it can.

The SH101 was my first synth, bought for £50 from a second hand shop in the UK i the early 90's. To me it's legendary, I've now owned 4 in my time. Be interesting to see how this matches up.

I never bought a SH101 when I had the chance in the early 2000's. Even then I recall they were going for about £400 - £600, so my limited budget along with wanting MIDI enabled gear ruled em out. In hindsight I missed out on a classic, but there you go. This synth is really good, not perfect, but good enough to warrant it's purchase price - unless you have a well serviced original 101 :)

The lack of MIDI CCs is down to the architecture. Its not programmable, so the pots just output voltages into the circuitry rather than being scanned by a processor and then a DAC feeding the voltages to the circuit. The Pro800 is a case in point, the front panel is just a series of analogue inputs to an ADC which the processor then feeds via a DAC and mulitplexor to the voices. Its therefore easy to send CC versions of everything out from this.

To be honest: even two real SH-101s doesn´t sound exactly as the other. So it´s no wonder, if it doesn´t really sound alike. Plus the SH-101 is 40+ yrs old. But i ordered it anyway.

Good point. Old electronics will behave very differently to those out of the box. I reckon you'll be happy with you purchase - I know I am.

If you are in the US Alto Music Store appear to have them in stock.

do the faders feel solid ? wobbly ?
@3dims3 ай бұрын
Pretty good to me - they feel no more or less wobbly than the Arturia Keylab or Roland TR-6S which I have to hand. Can't talk about their longevity as I've only had the synth a few weeks.
